Well, Gavin seems to have got rid of a few weaker characters who never really gelled with viewers like Lily, Jake, Mick and Lee (though the latter two, I felt, had potential) but if I was to be bold, I'd give Lexi King, Scarlett Nicholls, Bob Hope, Terry Woods, Brenda and Gennie, Jamie Hope and Sam Dingle the axe. I think this lot are the weaker set of characters, who are dragging the show down a wee bit.

Oh no, keep Sam, but the rest could go along with Alan Turner as he does not have much use these days and I am not fond of Leyla or David.  You also forgot what must be one of the worst performances ever - Sandy.  We now seem to running short of characters so I say bring back:-

Scott, Robert (although he is back in Kingdom) and possibly Zoe as they should stir things up a bit.

Why not have Paddy join with a larger practice to introduce more vets and customers, this would also take it back a bit to the old Emmerdale Farm.

As ITV are running out of money they could always make it Emmerdale meets Heartbeat and combine the two programmes.

Top of my list is the awful Lexi. Has to be one of the most pointless characters ever. Had such potential when she first arrived but has now turned into a needy sap - should have gone when the equally awful Carrie went.

Scarlett - Nice enough character but should go with Lexi as she is her "legal guardian" apparently.

Jamie - ARGH! Please! He makes my ears bleed! Overgrown toddler and not even remotely comical.

Gennie - Just a very meh character for me.

Katie - Only there as a "love interest" for every new male character under 40.

Rodney - An ageing Lothario - should retire to the sun somewhere

Alan - Only appears fleetingly when there is a village do to organise or protest to take part in.

hi thanks for repyling i couldnt figure out who jade was lol i liked jasmine to was suprised that she wanted to go out of it . but her family is still in the village so suppose she could in couple of years (reduced sentance) come back.

I said in an earlier post how I would write out the 'character ' Jamie, however I do think Alex Carter is a good actor and imo if they gave him some depth and a strong storyline he'd make interesting viewing.

i would write sandy off (ashley dad). he's doing my head in!! thats the only person i would write off really!  Bob does my head in sometimes as well!! so its them 2 i would write off

This is addition to the already confirmed leaving characters too. There is probably more chracters I would write out such as Rodney, Marlon and others.

Keep Bob, Terry & Doug but make their story lines more comical.

 Lexi needs to change as she is a wet lettuce whimpering after Karl King. 

Write out Lily and show more of Leyla's personality as she seems to be hiding behind David who isn't that interesting.

 Write in more funny Dingle story lines and bring back Charity!

 

Aww no all of them that you have listed are, for me, the ones who make the show.

 

At present, I can't really think of many I want axed. But that Nathan should defently go, he is NOT what Emmerdale needs in any way.

 

We need more normal, village characters, older characters and classic characters with normal stories, all these big boastful and dramatic stories can be trashed right Away, please!

Well the Wyldes (if thats how u spell it) are terrible.  Theyre acting is ok I suppose but the characters in general are all so annoying.  Emmerdale really need to find another Chris Tate, Zoe Tate & Kim for the big house.  They should bring back Zoe with the two kids she left with since they will be older now and also they could have her with a partner.

As for that Faye character she just annoys the hell out of me.  

I would also take out David, Marlons apprentice (cant even remember his name), Lexi and her half sister or whatever she is.  

But I think the rest of the older characters some people are looking to be removed make the show and they have been on our screens for so long it wouldnt be the same without them like Bob & Terry. 

Also think Brenda & Gennie bring nothing to the show.

Andy is one of the characters that should remain as he has had some amazing storylines and has remained with emmerdale for so long.  

Marlon is an amazing actor, when Tricia died his acting was excellent and there couldnt have been many emmerdale viewers with a dry eye!
