    Lovely without Cain

While the producer told Jeff he wouldn't be covering old ground, sadly, that's exactly what Cain will be doing on his return next week. This week has been lovely without him but then again I'm not easily pleased. I wont be fobbed off with old characters returning and having the same storylines.

It would have been lovelier if Cain had stayed, and was still fencing with the lovely Faye, and the ropey Charity had bogged off!

    Re: Lovely without Cain

I was very disappointed in Cain when he first returned to Emmerdale, but now I've quite warmed to him.  I appreciate his protectiveness towards Debbie and I like the way he is with Sarah. And he and Charity are two of a kind. They do understand each other.

I just couldn't see Cain and Faye as an item.  She's beautiful, refined, fastidious, and 15 years older than Cain (well the actress is 15 years older than Cain)  Cain is boorish, violent, dishonest and charismatic. A brief fling maybe, until Faye came to her senses.  But what on earth do they have in common.  What would they talk about?

I always thought Cain and Charity together would be a better pairing they know each other and their faults and there is chemistry between the two characters IMO. Might put a smile on Debbie's face too !

    Re: Lovely without Cain

You must be confusing Charity with another character. She doesn't love anyone. She has eyes only for herself. She's never once showed redeeming quaity about her. The only thin Charity loves more than herself is money and that's who the character is. Cain was able to show two sides to his nature when he was growing closer to Faye and Ryan. As a long term viewer, I've had my fill fo Charity/Cain's on-off, sickening affair. It was time for a change and sadly Gavin Blyth has gone back to old format.

    Re: Lovely without Cain

Charity is a damaged human being.  Not surprising given her background.  All she understands is survival. But I still can't see Cain sitting round the diningroom table with Faye, making small talk, chatting about mutual acquaintances, the news, a movie they'd both enjoyed.  However I can see him and Charity having a laugh, a fight, talking about some mad character from their past, planning a con. Neither of them are admirable and I'm sure they won't ever get together (what do you think of Charity and Jai?) but imo they are two sides of the same coin.

Yes that's how I see them Herne.

Cain and Faye will never work any more than he worked with previous lady characters, he needs Charity IMO.

    Re: Lovely without Cain

He worked better with Angie Reynolds than the likes of Charity/Sadie and Faye is very similiar to Angie. It started out well. Charity/Cain never were in the first place. It was forced chemistry and nothing. As for him *NEEDING* Charity. Give me a break, he's a better character in his own right not saddled with Charity. Everything he does from now on will be associated with her, there was no point in bringing back Jeff Hordley at all.

    LOL!

What do Cain/Charity talk about? Ah yes, Debbie and how much they have screwed each other over, over the years. Spare me from such hell.

Sorry, Vader, but I'm a Charity/Cain fan. I think they're great together - at least give the fires a chance to burn. You could get your wish and they could burn out!

They are going to burn out. I don't know why Jeff came back if they were not going to develop Cain beyond being associated with Charity. It's a waste of a good character. Cain was at his finest when he was associated with Angie Reynolds.

    Re: Lovely without Cain

I did love the Cain and Angie story. As much as I do think Cain and Charity are two peas in a pod, I don't want to see it again.

    Re: Lovely without Cain

I do agree they are not developing Cain properly. I was looking forward to seeing how being away from Emmerdale had changed him but that does not seem to have happened. Angie Reynolds - that must have been the time I didn't have tv - who was she and what happened? Could she be brought back?
