    CHRISTENING

Once again I see Maria's (and Kirk's) parents are conspicious by their absence.  You would think they would at least turn up for their first grandchild's christening!!Angry  Weren't there when she lost Liam (well not right away), again missing when she had the baby, I know Helen is annoying at times (Barry is not so bad) but at least they have been there for Maria each time.  Rather nasty comment Helen made when it was suggested Kirk stand in for Tony.

I thought the same, I can't believe they haven't shown their faces at all, very unrealistic. In my experience a baby's grandparents are all over you like a rash when there's a grandchild, and it would be their first one too.

Have to agree....it's not like anyone would remember who  played them last time around so they could easily have 'found' Maria's parents.  There wasn't even a mention of them or why they haven't come to see their only grandchild.   I did think it very strange that the Connor family all sat down to a big family meal BEFORE the christening and I thought the whole Tony disappearing off all the time was totally unbelievable. As was Jimmy getting beaten over the head with that heavy ornament and it was quite a miracle how he seemed to have such a huge gash on the side of his head yet hardly any blood .

    Re: CHRISTENING

I was surprised by the lack of people at the Christening and yes who has a meal BEFOREHAND?  I was getting bored by Tony's constant disappearing acts, it was just getting silly.

A priest/vicar with so much time on his hands he could wait for a godparent! Totally unbelievable from start to finish!

I'm not too sure how it works but I think a boy has two female and one male god parent and it's the other way around for a girl.

I think you're right there flirty, and also agree with fodla how come there weren't any other christenings that day,  or if not a christening some other event?Confused. As for guests Audrey was there so why not Natasha?  Maybe the meal before is an Irish thing?  I nearly fainted by the way when Michelle actually mentioned Paul!! Surprise

Having a meal before a christening is definitely not an Irish thing.  I have never know anybody to cook a big meal like that BEFORE  they go to the church. The whole thing was just so unrealistic.

No problem frannyp !   They are a bit of a strange family.  Paul, Liam and Michelle who look or sound nothing like their parents.   Confused

Yes, I have always wondered that actually. Where were Paul, Liam and Michelle born?

Hi flirtykitty.......I might be wrong but didn't Liam have a  Manchester accent, not too sure about Paul and Michelle. They do mention Ireland quite alot but I don't recall any mention of why the parents live in Ireland and what about that cousin Tom...didn't he have an english accent also.

Maybe Helen and Barry came over from Ireland to find work, had the children then when Barry (or both of them) retired they went back home.

    Re: CHRISTENING

I think the Connors lived on a rough Manchester Estate (as did Carla) and the Connor seniors went back to retire in Ireland.
