If i am boiling an egg, i boil it for 10 minutes then put it into a bowl of cold water.

that would be a hard boiled egg colette, but a soft but not runny egg would be 4 mins once the water has boiled.x

The best way for me to get the PERFECT boiled egg is to get the missus to do it.

Hard Boiled Egg (without any runny bits)

The water needs to be boiling first, bring the water to the boil and then turn it down slightly so bubbles are still coming to the surface quite quickly.

Add a little splash of vinegar (this will set the white of the egg if it it slightly cracks when entering the water)

Boil for 9 minutes and the egg will be hard.

If wanting to prevent the black ring that can sometimes appear round the yolk, run under cold water in a bowl until cold.

    Happy cooking
