Hi sorry I'm not a Dr but what you describe sounds very much like my son had. It was diagnosed as Osgoods Slatterers Decease I think that's the correct spelling it was some time ago that my son had it. He was first put into plaster up to his thigh for a week but that did no good whatsoever neither did hospital physio. They said there was no more they could do so at eleven years old my son was in constant pain and on medication. I desperation we took him to an osteopath who was great he explained what had gone wrong the bone growing faster than the muscle and that's why it gets called growing pains. He treated my boy and gave us instructions on how to massage the legs at home when he was in a lot of pain he used acupuncture. My son is now 27 6ft3" and very fit and no pain. A girl I know had this and was operated on and she is now in her late 30s and is still suffering. This may not be the answer for you but it may be worth your while to look it up on the google med website and see if it matches what you have.
