    Re: What would you ban??

    jdbabe:

In this current credit crunch recession hit Britain, I have decided to "ban" christmas in my household this year.Unfortunately,I now regard it as a "luxury" I cannot afford and as such has got to go.Fortunately tho,I have no children to worry about, just me and the other half. To reduce expenditure even further,Easter next year has also got to"go".(this one will be a real tuffy for me cos I am a self confessed chocaholic!!)

Since it seems that this goverment is hell bent on the low income(benefit or otherwise) populace not enjoying life anymore,so in order not to do  this half heartedly, intend to go the wholehog! To do this,I need ideas,so I ask,"what would you ban?"

no need to ban christmas, doesnt have to cost money, the true meaning of  it has been lost.... as a kid christmas meant,  an apple and orange, a book/jigsaw. ect  then celebration of the christian beliefs that it was the birth of christ... thats all gone now, its all about money and presents, and who is to blame.???/ we spoil our children too much throughout the year  that christmas is now  another excuse to  overspend on our greedy kids who dont know the true meaning of christmas, and that is your fault...

I am not denying you have a very good point Kendra, you do. Although i think it might be somewhat harsh to pin the blame solely on the parents.

I am sure you have watched kids tv, the adverts are crammed full of shiny stuff for them to slaver over. Our society is completely obsessed by materials and possessions.

We will never see the days again that you refer to.

You should not ban spending on any thing, the reason why there was a recession was because people and businesses were spending less money.  By spending less you would only make it worse
