Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

    Hi girls!

I wirk in London as a solicitor and need to be smart in the office and like to be fashionable outside of the office - I read Grazia, In Style magazine, Vogue etc and want to just be able to buy things I see in my size.

I'm a size 8 normal width in shoes and am SO frustrated, like yu, when i ask for a size 8 and the shop assistant says they have one and produce a size 41, which is a SEVEN AND A HALF. They swear blind it isn't.

Anyway, there are some shops that do a 42. LK Bennett do and these are absolutely brilliant. I could pretty much guarantee that any size 42 I pick up from this shop would fit, it's just a shame they're a bit pricy.

Boden also do a size 42 in almost every style. Duo also does size 42 boots in about a million different calf widths - this is a great website (search Duoboots) which is regularly featured in mainstream fashion magazines.

Hobbs also does great shoes and boots in size 42, as does Shelleys. I have also just bought a pair of grey patent heels from Jones Bootmaker which I love love love. I went back to get the same shoe in black patent but they only went up to size 41 in that, sooo frustrating! They have a sale on at the moment (December) so their shops and website doesn't show anything above about a 38 as in stock, but wait a couple of weeks and that's a great source of shoes and boots.

I also agree with a poster above as well that while a size 8 in Office is a 41, it can often come up large - I have bought a couple of pairs of shoes in there recently and I really am not a 41.

Barratts, George at Asda and Next also do size 42 and sometimes size 43 at the lower end of the price spectrum.

Hope this helps! Let me know of any other mainstream shoe shops you discover doing a 42.

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

Hi girls, am completely empathising with the frustration of the lack of larger shoes! I'm just over 6 foot with size 11 feet and also want shoes in the fashion magazines! And some plainer ones for work.

Just found amazing new website with bigger shoes from 8 to 12. Although online the girl running it goes to various markets in London.  I saw an advert in The London Paper and went along to Greenwich market, I tried on loads of shoes.

They are a bit more pricey than i'd usuallly go for but they have some fabulous colours and they are all leather.  Never seen anyhting like them as they are higher above my heel than any of my other shoes and my feet look really small in them!!!!!!

     Really worth a try...

Hi girls, only just signed up so hope I've got it right!

Also I am completely frustrated by the lack of big shoes.  I want the designs in the magazines as well as some plainer ones from work.

Just found fab website. The girl running it goes to various markets so you can see the shoes and try them on.  I found out about the company in The London Paper and went along to Greenwich market just before Xmmas. They will be at some more markets this year, dates her website.

The shoes are more expensive that I normally pay but I love the colours and they're alll leather.  I'm still fascinated as they are higher above the heel than any other shoes and they make my feet look small!!!!!  I was stopped in Currys the other day by a women (shorter than me) who asked where I got my shoes - for once I told her she couldn't get any as she was too small for them!!!!

WOuld definitely try them out... Happy shopping....

    Hello again

I wrote the previous entry as well, didn't realise you can't write URLs.

Amber and Jade shoes are my new fab shoes!   If you search for "amber and jade" online, you'll find them.

Am in love with my new gold and silver peep toes and my metallic red flat shoes as well.  They really support my heel and somehow the designs makes my feet appear small.  Am delighted, never seen that before....

     Good luck.  SJ

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

It's deeply frustrating that you can't put URLs in these replies as I've created a blog with details of large shoe shops all over the world. I'm still researching and adding shops as they appear, so all suggestions are welcome.

I have size 9-9.5-10 feet (depending on where I shop), narrow fitting and fairly flat as well, just to add insult to injury. I have all but given up on finding the kind of shoes I want. I hate that I can't find something that isn't grannyish. I'm only 30 for goodness' sake!

Anyway, we'll see if this works. My blog is at sizeninefeet dot blogspot dot com, with no www at the start. Hope it's of use to you ladies (though I am jealous that you're only size 7s and 8s!

    Hear hear!

I have the same experiences as you loubielou. I'm a size 43 and it is so disappointing every time I look at shoes because I can be guaranteed that there will never be my size. I'm a young professional women who loves shoes and fashion. There are a couple of stores in London that sell larger shoes but they by no means carry a large range of fashionable shoes.

What's more annoying is that there are some mid range designers that create up to a size 43 but the shops over here don't order them in. Crazy!! Doesn't anyone want my money?

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

I'm 6ft3 with shoe size 10 and mentioned tallgirls in my last post - but I didn't realise you cant use URL's.

Try searching for tallgirls - they have a great range of fashionable, affordable styles from size 8 - 12.  Plus a range of clothing for tallgirls.

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

I am a UK 9 (average fit) my 18 yr old daughter is a 9 - 9.5 v(ery wide and high instep) I hate shopping for clothes as I know that I am limited to what I choose due to the lack of choice with shoes.  I am sick and tired of assistants in shoe shops shaking their heads when I dare ask for shoes in a 9.  I no longer look at the shoes on display I just ask what they have in a 9 and I am amazed if I am offered any shoes.

I got all excited when I saw New Look advertising shoes in a size 9;  I did point out to the staff that most size 9 shoes are a 43 and not a 42!

Evans is out of the question as they are far too wide for me; I am an average fit.

I hate looking on-line as the shoes are generally more expensive and if shoes wrong colour or fit more expense is incurred by returning them.

When I met my husband (1981) he had difficulty buying size 12 shoes. He does not have problems any more, even M & S sell men's shoes in a 12!

I would love a "make-over " show/article to work with a tall model with feet size 9 (or bigger) and find lower heeled attractive shoes at a reasonable price.

I spent a fortune purchasing Start Rite shoes for my daughter, which I now feel was a waste of time as she is lives in training shoes as it is easier than looking for shoes.

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

You should go no there measuring website to find what size you feet are in width and length, they have designer shoes and normal wide shoes but you will fiond something here that will feet or call them for advise which I did.

Its true what you are saying womens feet are getting bigger but they are also getting wider which is the main problem in the UK, we need more selection of wide shoes for the older generation.

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

If you are a size 9 I would recommned you look into specialist wide fitting shoe shop, one place i did come accross is www.widefitshoes.co.uk.

Brilliant wide shoes and easy to find EEE with loads of styles. They have a good measuring tool to help with width and length.

I wouldn't recommned M&S they styles are not wide enough that would be the same with ecco shoes as well.

Re: Shoes for girls with big feet!

My daughter is just 12 yrs old and takes a wide fitting size 8. Getting shoes that she likes and that are affordable is an absolute nightmare. I am a single parent, so can't afford to pay a fortune. Clarkes are ok for school shoes (tho at £40 a pair and with little or no choice they are not ideal), but trying to find something that she can wear outside of school is almost impossible.

It is about time the High Street started to cater for us big footed people, (im also size 8 wide), as there are now so many of us around!
