    rosiet2008:

Sorry to hear about your condition Jill/Tiggywinckle.  A close relative of mine was recently diagnosed but has since had treatment and hopefully (crossed fingers) it's completely clear now.  Hope you've caught yours early.  And yes I know that even people diagnosed with such a dreadful condition still have a sense of humour.  They were joking about it in the waiting room for radiotherapy and even the consultant tried to make light of the situation (not quite what you expect from a consultant but for such an illness (I don't like using the word disease) I've heard a positive attitude can only help).  Thanks for the kind thoughts.  Hope all goes well with your treatment.

rosie, why not pop in the party a the woolie, you would be so welcome, just light hearted chat between good friends and we only met through wktk thread, but feel an affinity that will last forever. feel like i know them so well even though we have never met.....yet!!! xx

Kendra, Rosie, what shall I do?   I am already wearing an extra wooly, it is the middle of July, where is this Global Warming they are always rabbiting on about.   I think they have turned the Sun off to conserve energy.

dear john, why don't you come and join our gang on the wktk forum, Emmerdale, we have a marquee in the garden and the patio heaters on to keep us warm, we often dance around to keep warm and we have a large supply of blankets for when it gets really chilly.  we are a heartwarming bunch who laugh at life!

Oh ere, my Mummy warned me about ladies like you.   Remind me to thank her.   Will they be performing the exotic 'Dance of the seven army blankets'?  It is a version of the 'veils', but for cooler climates.

Annie, what's a WUSS?   No, your right, Mum was a bit too little to hide behind andd would probably clip my ear if I had tried.   The Sun came out today, it must be summer, I wonder if it will last all week.   The stupid Darling, aka Browns dushpan and brush, says all the high prices for energy are good for us.  His petrol and heating are paid by us, the silly taxpayers, so what does he know, or care, about the problems we face.

Yes, and I liked the kinky rubber buttons.   I used to get sewnup un a brownpaper vest with a layer of goosegreese, had it all winter, but summer was the flanel undervest, with the rubber buttons, whey!   Of course there was the Codliver Oil and Malt (Roos strenghthing medicine that Tigger so liked) and Ovaltine after Childrens hour.   It's alright for the gready Polictians and socalled captains of industry, but these increses in basic living costs are just too much.   Thought, Kendra, Rosie, can we play sandwiches?

    Re: Wear an extra wooly.

As you say Kendra, many things the Kids don't get these days.   I remember being sent to play with local kids who had measles, mumps, scarlet fever and all those sorts so we had then ills early.   Rember the winter of 47, I don't think I will ever be so cold.   Only heating was the kitchen range, bedrooms had ice on the insde of the windows and the blackets were thin.   Put on another wooly indeed, we undressed and dress in bed to keep as warm as we could, our clothers left on top of the blanketsfor a bit extra thickness.   Now, the Politicians want us to be cold again or will Global Warming save us?   Havn't dubbined boots for years.

haha, john, seem to remember army coats on our beds, thought they were called quilts, used to have a stone ! lol..... hot water bottle, think it had sasperilla pop in it at one time, i always copped for the end with the stopper in, lol,,,,3 of us in a bed top and tailed, and i do remember having cousins who were ill  staying with us so we could get the measles over and done with,,, seems so cruel doesnt it.? but we played in grime and dirt and our immune systems were so tough, never really had a serious illness, and when i was growing  up "allergy" was not in my vocabulary....  too sterile now, just look at some of the  kiddies brought up by the travelling community,  running about happily digesting dirt and doing what kiddies do, and so healthy, bless them...xxx

    Re: Wear an extra wooly.

Kendra, a stone hot water bottle, how posh, I had a housebrick wrapped in a bit of blanket.   As you say, the kids oday are almost too clean.   I was told that you had to eat a peck of dirt before you'd die.   That, for those too young to know, was a peck in Imperial meassure.   Thanks for renewing the memories but I am still seathing about the fatcat who tells the poor to 'Wear another wooly' when they are part of the problem.
