    les size 10:

. I used to work in a dept store helping ladies of ALL sizes choose underwear (you,d be surprised its just as hard for thin ladies to buy a bra, at least bigger ladies fill them) the amouint of times i got told, quite rudely "Its alright for you your skinny" and like you said those people didnt know me or my personal circumstances. for all they know i could,ve been ill. But those people obviously felt they had a right to talk to me like that, and rightly or wrongly that is how you came across in last nights show

My sister, who is thin, used to work in a fitting room at a shop for plus-sized ladies. She was fired because some of the customers complained that having a thin woman in the fitting room made them uncomfortable. Can you imagine the trouble that would ensue if a large woman was fired from a job because customers said they felt uncomfortable looking at or being served by an overweight woman? Or if a large woman wasn't allowed in a dressing room because she might make the skinny women feel uncomfortable about their bodies.

    Re: size 10 freaks

hi,i have worked in the retail fashion industry for over 10 years. Being a size 8 to 10 i have been treated appaulingly by extremely 'larger ladies' both in and out of work for the whole of that time. I have also experienced this behaviour from the other extreme, the super skinny size zero's. I cannot even begin to talk about the amount of abuse and rudeness that I have experienced for just doing my job. I do my hardest to help people look good whatever their size or shape and have now got to the point where i have lost  confidence in the way i look as a result of the  jealousy/hatred  that i have been on the receiving end of for years. I think that trinny and susannah should look into the industry and maybe produce a program for us people who suffer abuse on a daily basis from some of the general public who are size-ist in both ways maybe?

    Re: size 10 freaks

In reply to Malory - I too have these struggles. I am a size 10 with a size 30F bust and can NEVER find a shirt to fit me properly on my bust and waist without having to buy one two sizes bigger just to cover my boobs. Yes they are real and I find it annoying having to spend £35 plus on each plain shirt for work from specialist shops such as Bravissimo.

    les size 10:

i am sending this e-mail with reference to Trinny and Suzanne 12 aug in paticular to the comment made by the plus size lady refering to size 10 ladies being "FREAKS" I am disgusted that Trinny and Suzanne and the ITV allowed that comment to be shown because lets face it, if that was a size 10 lady calling a plus size lady a "FREAK" the plus size nation would be up in arms about it (i actually gasped when she said it). Why do bigger ladies think it is acceptable to insult thinner ladies because in these days of "Political Correctness" a thin person would be accused of being "FATTEST" had they refered to a large person as a "FREAK" I think it is the height of rudeness to call someone a "FREAK" for being thin, and while 45% of the nation may be plus size 55% arent and lets be honest its a damn sight easier to get to a size 18 than it is to STAY a size 10. Because come on how many of that 45% can actually say they,ve got an "Under active thriod gland"!!

                                                          Yours Faithfully

A digruntled but proud size 10 lady

i agree with you wholeheartedly. They cannot complain that people are 'fattist' if they treat others in the same way.

    Re: size 10 freaks

Very interesting to read everyone's post.   Up until 2 years ago I was a size 22.  I then lost 6 and 1/2 stone to get to my goal of a size 12.    So I have shopped for a plus size and a size 12.

In my opinion shopping for a size 12 is a million times easier!!  For starters you can walk into pretty much every shop rather than just Evans or Evie!    The only down side is that the size 12s seem to go quickly and there are never any left in the sales!!

I was never a happy fat lady.. far from it, made me miserable as hell but it took me a long time to be in the right frame of mind to loose the weight.  After all... who wants to diet for over a year!   It is so hard and some of my naturally skinny friends have told me that they never realised how hard it was until they supported me through my journey.

Have to say wombat.. you looked fab on the show!

    Re: size 10 freaks

Shopping for a size 6 is not the same as shopping for a size 12.

However, for the same person - shopping for a size 12 is different than shopping for a size 22 because their proportions don't change.

But other people have clothing problems that have nothing to do with size.  People are short, tall, have big busts (in proportion to the rest of them), big bums, broad shoulders, etc.

At least plus size women have shops live Evans, even if they aren't the greatest. There are no shops at all for short people or thin people.

I wish Trinny & Susannah, Gok and thre rest of them would do shows for all types of figure issues, not just being overweight.

Regarding abuse - I have  had overweight women-complete strangers - come up to me and start insulting me, calling me , a ***, etc. for no reason as I have never met them before in my life. I can't prove that this has anything at all to do with weight, and it could just be a coincidence, but it is only overweight women who have ever done this, so I have my suspicions.

I'm not saying that anyone posting  here would ever do anything like that, but it does happen.

    Re: size 10 freaks

helllo hello all. im not going to get into a debate with you all but just thought i would voice my opinion on the matter.

i was a bit surprised to hear the comment on TV and it did make me a bit annoyed. whether that the fault of the person who said it, or itv for showing it-i think both. i would never dream of calling a size 20 lady a 'freak' regardles of the context and i have read the comments from the person who said they said it on here, and to be honest whatever the context the comment 'size 10 freaks' was still used no matter how u wash it down. i dont think its really relevant to talk about why people are too fat or thin or what you eat or whether its your fault your fat or thin. i think the point is in this day and age you cant go around calling people 'freaks', whether they have a mental illness, anorexia, depresion or are just small boned. whoever retail shops focus their sizes on is their choice and its not size 10 peoples fault if larger ladies cant find clothes -god knows its never easy when your a 'smaller size'. i thought the aim of the programme was to all get together against retailers and demand that they consider the larger lady because yes the average clothes size has gone up over recent yrs and they should consider that. it should be all of us against the retailers - not fat people against thin people.  so there. good bye.

you have made some very strong and well written points, all of which, IMO i agree with totally. I have nothing more to say on the matter as you have just said it all!

    Re: size 10 freaks

I also agree with Lizzy 85 that it is wrong to call anyone a freak. I think the reason this "debate" started is because someone was trying to justify it, and it's not justifiable.

I have said all I have to say on the matter as well.
