My last post might not have come across properly.....I asked WHY do you all celebrate Christmas and what I meant was, is it coz you've always done it, because you actually believe in Christmas (ie Faith reasons) or just because it's fun!

And if it's not for faith reasons, do you join in with the celebrations of other religious festivals too??

I'm with Joanna on this one. I hate all the decorations being up for 2 months. There's a house near me that has the lot, hundreds of light covering the entire house excpet the door and windows, a blow up santa, a blow up snowman, a blow up christmas tree, a wodden sleigh thing, a blow up homer dressed as santa. Personally i think it look's seriously tacky! Some of neighbours will be putting their's up soon too i would imagine. I don't mind some white light's strung on maybe a tree outside, or a holly wreath on the door and obviously a christmas tree is fine but the house's being so covered in lights you can hardly tell they're house and hurt your eyes to look at is just too far for me!

I celebrate christmas because i always have too, it used to be for religious reasons, my mum is a strong christian but i was never that interested in going to church or anything like it so now i just celebrate it for fun. I celebrate other religious festevials but also from christianity (lol) like easter and things. But that's all!

Re: Anyone got their Xmas decorations up yet?

    Hi Georgie and Abby!

Thanks for these!! I know people probably think I'm being a pain in the erchy by going on about it all but it really does fascinate me why people who have absolutely no interest in the Christian faith celebrate Christmas - and about WHY Christmas has been hijacked to the degree that it has? It is, at the end of the day, purely a religious festival - right up there with Yom Kippur and Ramadan etc!! So why have folk picked Christmas to effectively destroy the meaning of?

I know there are people like your two good selves who have some connection with church and who do celebrate because you always have - but there are also folk who go all out for Christmas and Easter etc, they couldn't actually tell you much about what it's about - and they have no interest in ever knowing what it's about!!! I honestly find then mind-boggling, and also, to be frank, quite offensive!!Angry

As for having a Blackpool replica outside your house?? DON'T get me started(!!!) Wink
