    Re: Ray Quinn

Luara, I repeat, Ray is a better skater yes but he was better from the outset. Chris was much the same and I was none too pleased about that either. ITV should either get experienced dancers/skaters or total novices. None of this is Ray's doing and maybe, just maybe, I am being a little harsh but he should not be in the competition.

He should not win because he started several miles down the road at week one.

Its not fare on him either.

    Re: Ray Quinn

You're all giving ray a hard time because he could roller blade beforehand!   ***heck - I can roller blade but I wouldn't last 2 minutes on an ice rink!!!  Anyway - didn't Colleen dance for years with the Nolans (doesn't seem to do her any good).

I would love to see how many of the tens of thousands of roller bladers that were plucked off the street - could dance like ray quinn!!!!  Also- it would be interesting to see how much training Jessica had before she started the programme - I hadn't realised that she had trained before for another ice skating programme but had pulled out at the last minute!!

GIVE RAY A BREAK - THE BOY HAS NATURAL TALENT!!!!

    Re: Ray Quinn

Perhaps a little harsh.  The producers etc couldn't have known he would be as good as he is when they signed him up and he can't help being good.  I say Go Ray Go - every week I watch his performance more than once and, apart from last week with the hat, I have never yet been disappointed by him.  You have to remember - he is not a professional skater....he's just a guy who wants to do well and does, week in/week out!

    Re: Ray Quinn

I completely agree, Ray probably didn't know how good he would be and the producers certainly wouldn't! Every year you find celebs with natural scating ability and some like Coleen who can barely stand on the ice never mind scate! Why should somebody like Ray with such natural ability be forced to bow out? This show is called 'Dancing on Ice' not 'look like a plank of wood on ice'!

If people are suggesting that Ray is too good to be in the competition, maybe Jess shouldn't as she has dancing and ice scating experience. The good thing about the show is that you find people with talent, if people like Ray weren't on it, the show would be boring and people would switch of, as personally, there's only so much of Coleen I can stand!

    RAY QUINN TO WIN!!!!!

    Re: Ray Quinn

I think the serious problem that is unfolding week by week on this show has been caused by the organisers creating a conflict of interests for reasons of probably money from voting, and its really annoying me now. I love the program on the basis of watching serious expertise in the discipline that the show is created on and Ray gives me that pleasure as Jesica and Zoe also did. That is obviously not the criterion of the voting public as some of the commenters indicate in the threads of this forum. To obviously a lot of (most likely Loose Women Voters, its a popularity contest  with no consideration of skating prowes brought into the equation. I for one am glad that Ray etc. are in the competition, otherwise I would not bother to watch it, especially with the weekly embarrassment  of Colleen Nolan, who is unable to give any performance on her own and is now using injury excuses to cover up. I'm appalled by the degradation which has been allowed to creep int a potentially exciting entertainment show.

    Re: Ray Quinn

'The celebs should be on a level playing field. '

How will that be ascertained? Will the producers line up far more stars than required, have them all skate, then decide which ones are of a similar standard? Collen has a background in music, Donal doesn't, yet look at the difference in their improvement! Yes, Ray has natural balance. He also throws himself into everything with no apparent fear- that's why he's so good. Are you going to make the celebs walk along a balance beam, then say, "Sorry, you didn't fall off, so you can't be in the competition!"? Why do people have to constantly knock those who do well?

    Re: Ray Quinn

What is wrong with having a variety of abilities.  I enjoy watching Ray Quinn because he is so good.  By contrast I enjoy watching Donal, because he improves each week.  I did enjoy watching Colleen in the early weeks, but the fact she is still in above good skaters like Zoe is silly, but that's the nature of the programme.

We should embrace talent when it's given the chance to shine, not destroy it.

If it is about popularity then Coleen will win, if it's about skating ability then Ray will win. Whoever wins it's been entertaining and that is the point of the show.

    Re: Ray Quinn

Come on, You either have skating experience or dancing experience or not. it is that simple. Ray has had both. Have a competition with people with Ray's background or have true beginners. You cant mix and match it just does not work.

    Re: Ray Quinn

Ray only had the same amount of skating experience as someone who has been a few times with mates over the years.  Yes he and Leona went skating on the XFactor and he proved to be confident on the ice, but then as someone said earlier, he throws himself into everything he does, without fear, and that's what you get if someone is willing to take a risk.

He's been throwing himself around on the ice like Tigger on speed and I for one applaud him for his bravery!  Go on Ray - I'll be voting on Sunday!

    Re: Ray Quinn

Well, as much as I have enjoyed watching this year- I have never yet voted. I was thinking of voting for Donal, as he seems a nice guy that is giving his best. However, Ray is so watchable, and i don't care that he has a natural talent for this above any of the others- Its called 'Dancing on Ice' and that's what he is doing.

So, to hack off the likes of Seti- who I think must be Coleen's agent!!! I shall, for the first time, vote for RayStick out tongue

    Re: Ray Quinn

    seti_neroon:

He is a pro dancer and skates on in lines.

I've skated on in-line blades at competition level and I've tried ice too - I can't even stand up on ice for more than a few moments (and I've tried many times to change from land to ice). Embarrassed

It is different - I'm trying not to say ice is slippy but that is the difference, there is a massive difference between the grip you have under rollerblades and under ice skates, as a rollerblader I find there is far more control and grip with rollerblades than ice skates.  I admire anyone who can iceskate.

I have one question though - why hasn't anyone pointed out that Jess was a semi pro when she was younger?

    Re: Ray Quinn

There is no way Ray was twice as good as Donal. He was nowhere near as good a Jessica. Why are the judges showing favoritism towards him. They should only be judging him on tonight's performance, not what he has done any other week. The guy is  smug and should not have been allowed into the competition in the first place since he had far more experience than the celebs. Jason must fancy him. How can he give 3 to Donal, 4.5 to Jessica and then 6 to Ray? Its totally wrong.
