     Guy's,

Have been lucky enough to give both the SL 55 AMG and the M3 a tickle.  The 55 is a great car, amazing power but doesn't inspire confidence anywhere like an M3 or even 335I where the balance is so much better.  Impressive times by the RX though.

    Don't forget your passports!

Agreed, the AMG's are definitely not in the same league as any 'M' car I've driven.

The only criticism I'd have over the V8 M3 is that it can struggle to get full power down at times, especially this time of year.

Ok guy's 2 things, no make that 3

     1) *** the drip feed, complete teams will be up on the site at some point hopefully this week.

    2) we are down to our very last ticket, so if you have a mate who may be up for it, get them to get intouch asap.

    3) should i sell the M3 (cab with dct) and get a R8 ?

No and no, you'll cry at what your M3 is worth, DCT means nothing as manual seems to be the transmission of choice. You know what I paid for my M3 and I know what you paid for yours. DONT DO IT.

Also, V10 R8 out v soon, you'll see the V8's tumble in value.

The M3 is a mint car, if you got Saloon or Coupe...wait....actually, cab M3...*** it sell it!! We dont get the sun for em anyways and scuttle shake sucks!! Devil

    Re: 2009 teams

Yes i know you are right !!!!

I should stick with the M3 for a least a year, but every time i see an R8 on the road (which is not often) they look awesome.

Buy the way when the roof is up, which is most of the time, (but not the past few day as it has been lovely) there is no scuttle shake, however it is still there with the roof off even though it is a big improvement on the E46

Any way off to Coventry and Leicester now, very glamerous i know, have a good day all

Get a GTR! Blow everything off the road. I was over taken by two together this morning (one red and one black) just outside Abingdon nr Oxford. First ones i have seen and two together!

They sounded awesome and looked even better particulary the black one.

Also considerably cheaper and four seats!

    Re: 2009 teams

So the teams are finally up. Team 2 and 3 are looking particularly strong in my opinion. Team 1 are gonna be pit stopping a fair bit Devil

And team 3 have the handicap of a 3 1/2 Ton Bus Crying

I'll dish out latest sat nav (version 10.0) for the Mercs in the evening prior to us going for interested partys, up to date roads and updated TMC make it a must have upgrade. I'll also try and grab the Audi one with Safety Cameras for Gary in the RS4, have plenty of Audi type contacts who can probably sort me a copy.

I'll also be carrying 3xJerry Cans in the boot as weight aint an issue for me.

On a serious note, I hope you all know that in France you MUST have a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and a hi-vis jacket in the car by law? Dont want to give em any more reason to add to the fines they dish out.

    Re: 2009 teams

    Just saw the teams.

Just a thought - Team 2 and 3 are all actually German (Lambo is owned by Audi I think) and Team 1 (the winners of course) multi-cultural.

On paper Team 2 and 3 look to have the best chance however team 1 will work together as a team and bring in the points yet again!

For deatails of compulsory things check this out.  (fire extinguisher is not compulsory according to AA!!  Safety camera alerts (piggy banks as i call them) are illegal!

REFLECTIVE JACKETS & WARNING TRIANGLES IN FRANCE (30 September)

The French Road Safety Department has confirmed that:

From 1st October 2008 all drivers in France, including drivers of vehicles registered outside of France, must have one warning triangle and one reflective jacket in their vehicle.

This regulation, which we understand does not apply to two and three wheeled vehicles, will be enforced with on-the-spot fines of between €90 and €135.

It is absolutely prohibited to carry, transport or use radar detectors. Failure to comply with this regulation involves a fine of up to 1500 Euros and the vehicle and/or device may be confiscated. Jan 09

Holders of EU driving licenses exceeding the speed limit by more than 40 km/h will have their licenses confiscated on the spot by the police.

Well it may be over the top in terms of weight but it overcomes that by having a HUUUGE fuel tank. I'll simply punch the whole in the air for the rest of team 3, and believe me, its like a brick so its gonna be one helluva hole

    Re: 2009 teams

boys, boys, boys, before we have even got started we (team 1 ) have this nailed, ok the average bhp is well down in our team, but planning will prove to be key. Team 2 is all newbies (good took with that Jon) and Team 3's will last year was pure fluke, gary (our kid) can't find his way out of a cul de sac and suites the name of captain slow to a tee

    bring it on bad boys

Have to say this good wether has gor me right in the rabbit run mood, bring on Rabbit Run 2009 i can't wait

    Re: 2009 teams

Also, the safety camera's on the Nav DVD's are perfectly legal, I'm 90% sure the Audi's have them as standard, my old RS6 showed them on crossing the tunnel.

My other motor is the one with all the jammers on, but most people cant even see them on a close up of the car via a photo let alone in the flesh. And the hard power switch for them is priceless

You have the SLR to bump your average BHP way up..and that's really some boost.

For those doubting the credentials of the ML....here's a teaser

You'll need a big tank as the fuel consumption on the ML will be terrible driving at its limit. Even worse than my RX8!!!!!

Also the problem with driving a car with a big boot is that everyone else will want to fill it!!
