Have to say that I didn't like Teresa when she first appeared, but I thought the acting was excellent when she 'confessed' to her ex-husband that she was overdosing him. I don't like her playing the drunk, it's just not very well done. However, I must confess I like her otherwise...... Oh dear, I bet this gets a few responses........Tongue Tied

I think that Karen Henthorn who plays Teresa is a good actress, and talent that is much needed on the Street. However, typically, the scriptwriters have taken the character to an extreme - instead of making her a bit mischievous but likeable, they have portrayed her as obnoxious. They just don't seem to be able to attain a happy medium. What Coronation Street needs is strong characters who entertain through their wit and emotion. Today's scriptwriters seem to believe that we simply have an appetite for bad behaviour - I think they under-estimate their audience.

"Has Minnie thrown in her pinny?"   Smile

I think she plays the drunk well - if a little OTT at times (although not as OTT as Becky!).  She's been compared with Cilla but I think there's so much more to Teresa's character than Cilla's.

What I can't quite fathom is whether she really cares about Darryl or whether she's just trying to keep him sweet so he doesn't abandon her the way the rest of her family have already done.   Although there does seem to be a warmth there that was lacking with Mel.

Probably because despite the embarrassment Darryl accepts his mum warts and all - unlike miserable Mel who seemed to think her mother should be perfect.

I thought oh no she's not back again surely!! Boring, boring, I just fast forward her scenes when I have taped on sky+. Also the Windasses and the Joe storyline.

Actually summershowers I have to agree, Thesera was a great character with Jerry and the family, but now she is back, she is just coming across as an unpleasant scrounging nuisance.

when she first came on the screen i really liked her and she was a brill actress. I was sad to see her go then she came back on our screens!! I think she will be really good in the street.  She will soon settle down and will have some good storylines.  I love her and i think she should stay.

Re: Should Teresa Morton really come back?

I agree with pauliew, Teresa has real potential.  Every soap needs at least one character who is entertaining and irritating in equal measures.  I think Teresa provides a sort of 'safety valve' for the rest of us - she behaves so naughtily and selfishly that it's almost like she's doing it for everyone else watching who would never dare behave so outrageously.  It's also comforting for most people to know that there is at least one person out there who is more self-centred, greedy, cheeky, grasping and thoughtless than they are!

So, keep the old cow in, I say.  We need a truly awful (but fun) female character.  And consider the alternative: if the mighty T leaves they might resurrect Jackie!  Agh!  Please!  Never let her darken the cobbles again with her overt 'I'm a Scouser'-ness, dreadful posturings and primary school thespian skills.

No she just does'nt fit the street and i think one drunk is enough in any soap as we have Peter who lets face it does a much better job don't put her son thou any more shame please.

What was the ridiculous scene all about when Theresa shook Steve's ladder to show him her tin of spam?  It wasnt even amusing, she is becoming a pointless (and rather creepy) character.

I fink Daryls going out of it which means she will have no family, no friends and no stroylines. I hope Jerry returns for a few weeks and creates a stroyline which will see Teresa exit.

I wondered that myself, thought it was leading up to her being legless again, but then it didn't! Very strange. I cant see the point in her at all to be honest, and with Daryl going then hopefully she will follow him.

How pointless is this character becoming?  Her behaviour at the party yesterday was embarrasing not funny.

I dont think it was ment to be funny

Teresa is a great actress, she just gets odd scenes which make her irritating. She needs a proper storyline
