Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....

Good question Kevin, I've noticed that too.

I guess the towell acts like a comfort blanket, and sucking on the straw looks better than using his thumb.

He's probably following team orders by having something other than his foot in his mouth!

As for Jenson, he's doing a really great job and had he received full points for Malaysia, he'd be virtually unbeatable already.

Even if Brawn are less dominant for the rest of the season, I'm certain that he'll go on to score a significant number of points and it'll be very hard for any other driver to overtake him for the WDC.

I'd like to say also that I think Rubens is looking much racier these days and it's great to see so many competitive cars on the grid - Jenson's looking very strong but there's enough time and plenty of competition for anything to happen.

Thanks for the welcome, pedekay. My post was just a light-hearted observation... didn't mean to upset anyone!

    Apologies!

Okay first reply didnt get through!

By the way this post is as stupid as hell!!!!!!

Could he have a water bottle as anyone in fitness would know the first thing anyone needs to do is replenish ones system, to flush out toxins? Help the muscles to recover? to cool down? to avoid nose bleeds? Headaches? Muscle spasms? and oh yeah a host of other reasons why it is good to drink straight away after a sternuous workout!

Could it also been because he has just completed a whole race, isnt on the podium drink champers, and the in the press conference with a lovely cool orange aid infront of him!

Maybe just maybe, someone can put a word in for you the next time they bump into Lewis Hamilton after a highly competitive race.....and the word could be, put your anatomy at risk, because some ****head doesnt like to see you drinking after a race LOLOL

Of all the complaints in all of the world, this one has to go down as the worst to date!

I think the point the original poster was making - is that it just looks 'posie' and is done for effect.  as he/she says no one else does it, its just ham .....

Yeah because water bottles are the height of 'cool' aren't they jax!

yes,  just as towels thrown casually around the neck are too...it says 'look at me,  I am cool and important' ...as Isaid - all for effect...

Sorry Jax but that is a ridiculous statement and I cant believe that this entire thread is not on about the third page by now having been swamped by more interesting things than wether or not Hamilton should have a towel round his neck and a bottle of fluids.

Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....

I think the point Kevin is missing with his first post is this.

Whilst Lewis was being interviewed and congratulated on the positioning of his designer towel and the creative drape effect and open display of penny earning potential because the drinks bottle is as yet unsponsored, we could clearly hear the podium ceremony taking place somewhere once frequented but now forgotten.

The reason you have not seen Sebastian and Jenson being interviewed in their post race rehydration is that they have been busy receiving trophies this year, and as podium achievers are allowed to rehydrate with champagne.

Whilst I am sure Lewis will be thrilled to bits with the likes of TC and Jax70 swooning over his coolness and such trend setting aesthetic. I am equally sure they both will be happy to see his smiling face being arrogant in defeat being deemed special enough to receive immediate post race interview for even a 6th position than see him standing where he stood for most of the first two years of his career.

At least Lewis is allowed to stand still, last 5 years whenever Jenson was congratulated for yet another fine dismal performance by Louise G,  Jenson would insist on walking, oh yes If I remember always with bottle tube feeder in and out of mouth.

Of course if you only ever watch Lewis and everything he does and says, like TC and Jax70, then how clever of you to notice the only real change in his actions this year.

Different to previous years, drivers must now make themselves available after each qualifying and the race. If they want to avoid a penalty the days of sulking in the motorhome or disappearing from the circuit are over.

macaw -  how astute you are, I am just confounded as to why the towel needs to be there in the first place.  If you read other threads on this site you will how people are commenting on how ham was not even in a sweat on finishing the race, so why the towel ?  maybe he needed to keep warm in the 38deg temp. as for the drinks bottle, I have no doubt that he needs to re-hydrate but why not not just put it behind his back whilst being spoken to and replying, basic good manners really...only a small matter that Kev bought to our attention but isn't it getting some air time.....

Why does Lewis insist on doing interviews with that water bottle and a towel around his neck? I know drivers have it tough out there... but Jenson and Sebastian have no problems talking to the press. Is it just nerves? I don't remember Lewis doing that last season.

Anyway, congrats to Jenson... finally showing us what he can do under pressure.

maybe he's thirsty .. or are you suggesting its like a comfort blanket? succling at the teat of the corporate trough ..

a lot of motoGP riders do this, all the time, but its usually just a sponsor thing .. the logo is carefully turned to the front for maximum TV visibility . oh and theyre taking on board liquids of course.
