Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I am devastated about The Bill not being shown on STV from last night. I have Virgin Media and have been looking through the channels and came across channel number 853 which is ITV AD. This appears to show the main ITV programmes and i flicked on through the tv guide and it is saying that The Bill will be on on Thurday night at 9PM and it is the new one. So i have now set my box to record this. Fingers crossed that it works.

Anyone that has Sky installed, can get the ITV variations eg, ITV London, from what i can remember as i had Sky in my old house in Northern Ireland, and i was able to watch ITV 1 London. I cant remember the channel number but it is in around 900 or so.

Hope this is of some help to you all.

    Chris

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I was heartened to find so many protests about the removal of  'The Bill' from the STV schedules. This has happened on so many occasions before with other programmes but surely never with such a popular programme as  this. I e-mailed  STV to protest in  the strongest possible terms but their reply in no way addressed my complaint.  The best they could do was to assure me that they were pursuing a strategy of providing programmes more relevant to Scotland!!!  - the last thing I wanted to hear if past experience is anything to go by.  I will  be extremely disappointerd if ITV don't manage to find a way around this for the sake of your loyal Scottish viewers.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I wholeheartedly agree with all the previous messages. Once again we are being punished for living in Scotland.

I have watched The Bill all the years it has been on and I look forward to it, love the characters and story lines.

Is this not a form of postcode lottery?

To make matters worse in the Radio Times for next week here is a 2 page article extolling the virtues of the new-look Bill with a small, in brackets, note saying" not in Scotland"

Nedless to say I am very angry about this..

i have already made my views on stv axeing the bill but i am sending this message to the head boses in itv [ if you look t this website you must know how angry the bill fans in scotland are of stv,s decision ,,,,,, you must act now before the screning of the bill on thursday night and over rule stv,s decision and make them screen the bill or fined them make them pay a penalty cost for not going with the rest of the itv network then and only then will stv have to other alternative but to tow the line and make them screen the bill so come on itv boses act now

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I have been looking forward to the new look of The Bill only to find out the muppets in STV programming office forgot that it is the viewers that pay their wages through the local advertising and Subsequent sales of these products.  If these so called professionals keep going we will be watching reruns of Take the High Road as they are not willing to pay for programs that are produced south of the border.

It looks like they thought that we wouldn't notice that a really good and well followed program would be missed, how wrong. I think they should come into the real world and it has to have diversity of programing but what STV are puting on is either (A:) rubbish and not worth the time at 9pm to watch or (B:) been on before with someother presenter.  STV seen to think that in Scotland we only like to watch Scottish programs, yes we do but not at the cost of losing a program that STV/GRAMPIAN has shown since the very first episode in 1983 so why stop now???????? just when it gets interesting.

I have a friend in Perth who is seething about STV and its disregard of its viewers. If I were in Scotland , I would boycott the station as my friend is going to do. I am glad that I am south of the border.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I just found out today that STV are dropping The Bill and struggled to believe it.  I can't just sit back and accept it; I had to voice my annoyance somewhere.  I have followed this programme for years now and was looking forward to the new format only to read in the newspaper that STV would prefer to do more diverse scottish programming.  Are you kidding me?  Who wants to watch that in a prime-time slot?

Since when has television programming been a postcode lottery?  Please ITV, step in and help us, we have missed out on so much already.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I got an email from them saying they were going to show more Scottish programmes. One of the is what scots did in the Spanish Civil War! I told them I won't be watching their programmes. I think it is disgusting that they can drop The Bill. They're going to lose out on the advertising.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I received the same e-mail from STV, are you really wanting to sit down to watch a documentary at prime viewing time not me. Made in Scotland- examining iconic symbols that give Scotland such strong visibility internationally. Stunning exploration of Scotland from the air entitled-Scotland Revealed, plus the series about Scots who fought against Franco- called Homage to Caledonia. They will be announcing even more new programmes in the next few months and i dread to think on what lines they will be. I am proud to be Scottish, but these programmes are not for prime TV. I cant see me watching STV much and i think their viewing figures will decrease, who will want to pay for advertising at that time when veiwing ratings are low.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

    Hi Guys,

Yes the flagship cop show is off STV but there is a way round it, if you have Sky or Free Sat or a satellite receiver. (1) find out on the net what is the frequency of ITV London region then re tune the receiver to the London or any English ITV slot using add new channels. (2) If you have Free Sat re tune the receiver to a LONDON post code then you will get all the London area stuff and ITV HD as well with The Bill being broadcasted in HD and the picture quality is great on the Humax Free Sat. If you have not a satellite connection just digital terrestrial TV then you have lost The Bill. I toaly agree that The Bill being scrapped was a disaster for STV now shown rubbish programs in The Bill's slot also ITV player not showing The Bill. If everyone wrote in to ITV as i have then at least we could get it on the  iplayer like the BBC's iplayer, I'm lucky i have the satellite stuff and feel sorry for the people in Scotland who don't, Just keep complain and who knows it may be shown on ITV 2,3,or 4 and better still on the ITV iplayer. Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

Both myself and my mum are disgusted to learn that The Bill will no longer be broadcasted in Scotland. My mum has been a loyal viewer since the very 1st show and being only 20 myself i think i have watch ever show - watching the re runs on sky in the summer holidays from a young age. To think everytime there was a so call major football game on for any team world wide stv had to change it schedule to accommidate even when half the viewer to the channel dont watch sport - but nobody complained then. I is an outrage that the only way to watch it now is if you are lucky enough to have sky to watch it on ITV London. I seriously think the bosses at stv so reconsider where there money is spent as at the moment they are wasting alot of money on shows no one is interested in an all we want is the show we love!!!!!Angry

    Totally crazy situation at STV!

I'm lucky I've got Sky and can go to Channel 993 for ITV London.

     Is Corrie next?

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

Myself and many of my friends were disgusted to hear that stv would no longer be showing The Bill.  We have all watched it for many years and are greatly disappointed with the decision to remove it.  The decision to replace it with "Scottish" shows is nonsense - a sure fire way to lose many viewers in this 'prime time' slot of tv viewing.  Although i'm proud to be Scottish I certainly will not be watching their new shows and am yet to find someone that says they will.

Judging by the amount of complaints i've seen on forums (not to mention the number of people that haven't posted anything)  I can only hope STV will soon see sense and put it back on our screens or at least offer another source of viewing such as on demand.  Its a outrage and I hope everyone who feels the same will get in contact with STV to make our views heard.

     Bring Back The Bill STV!!!

i think it is utterly disgusting the way they change things to suite there own needs

if it was not for the veiwers there would not be any stv they should think on that.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I think it is disgrasful that stv has cancelled the bill the program is one of the best show around and if stv think it will help there audience they are wrong! as you will find the people are not interested in the your new programs Angry i am lucky to have sky but what about the people who dont have sky how do you think they feel losing a program that they love

Get you prioritys right STV and think of the viewers and not yourselfs
