Liam really didn't know what to do with himself, he was at the opposite side of the room from the door so he couldn't leave but he felt like he was intruding on a Tony and Carla's moment.
He didn't know where to look, the delivery suite was very small and pretty empty. He decided to keep his eyes on Tony and Carla, anything to keep his focus away from where the mid wife was positioned.

"This one and you will have your baby" The midwife said as Carla shoock her head. "No more I cant....ooooow... do it" she cried.
Tony put his arm around Carla "You've done so well, you can do the last bit" he encouraged.
The contraction hit and Carla's face contorted in pain. "Come on Carla" Liam added showing his support. Carla bore down with all her might and let out a scream that pained everyone in the room. "Keep going Carla" the midwife called out over Carla's screaming.
"And babys out, well done Carla!" the midwife called. As Carla fell back against the pillows, having used up all her energy Tony kissed her proudly.
Tony rushed to the midwife, as he heard the baby's tiny cries.
"Does daddy want to cut the cord?" The midwife asked as a very eager Tony was already nodding.
"Aww Car, its a girl, we have a daughter" he informed a very weary and traumatised Carla as he cut the cord.
Liam joined Carla once agian "Congratulations" he said kissing Carla's forhead.

Carla smiled through her tears as the midwife placed the tiny squealing newborn on Carla's tummy once the cord had been cut. "Sh...she's so pretty." Carla said softly as she gazed at Tony who smiled, pride clearly on her face. "Course she is, takes after her mum." Tony said as he wiped a stray tear from his eyes. "So do you two have a name for this little one?" Liam asked not sure he wanted to intrude the moment but feeling like an idiot simply stood there. "Erm we...we hadn't decided fully." Carla said as she still seemed a little dazed from the speedy delivery, after all they'd only been at the hospital for 3 hours. "We'll quickly weigh her, take her stats and then you can go to the ward." The midwife said as she gently picked up the tiny baby and took her over to the scales.

"I'm so sorry darling. I really am. I thought I wouldn't make it." Tony said as he showered Carla with kisses. "I th..thought you weren't going to make it either." Carla said as she smiled towards Liam. "Liam mate, thanks for been with her." Tony said shaking Liam's hand and looking at Liam oddly as he winced. "Oh sorry, it's just i think your wife broke a few bones in there." Liam said as Carla blushed. "I..I'm sorry Lee." Carla whispered as Liam smiled.

"It's okay I guess. Nah seriously congratulations you two, she's lovely. I...I best eb heading back though, leave you two to coo over that little angel. Do you want Elliot bringing in, meet his sister?" Liam asked.

"He'll probably be in bed now. Er...erm we'll leave it till morning. I assume they'll be okay to let him in tomorrow visiting time." Tony said as the midwife returned with the newborn wrapped in a pink blanket. "Here we go, a very healthy little girl there. 6lbs 4oz and as alert as anything, aren't you sweetheart." The midwife said softly as she handed the little girl to Tony who smiled as he peered down into the dark blue inquizitive eyes of his tiny daughter.

Liam walked out of the hospital and looked at his phone. He had several messages on his phone from Maria asking where he was. He needed to call round and speak to her he couldnt leave it till tomorrow. Liam got in his car and drove to Maria's. It was only 9pm so Maria shouldnt of been in bed, and all the lights were on.

"Liam your 9 hours late, i thought you wanted to talk". "Im so sorry Maria i was gonna call but Carla needed me, shes had the baby a little girl". "Oh what a surprise Carla again, you know i thought maybe we could of got back together today, you know Erins really missing not having her daddy here all the time!" "Maria please you cant make me feel even worse than i do, but today Carla really needed me i would of much rather been here with you two but i couldnt". "But Liam this is the problem its not just today you chose Carla over us two its most the time."

They had come to the conclusion that nothing was gonna get sorted tonight while Maria was still angry. "Look Liam if you really mean everything then your come round tomorrow and we can get everything sorted". Liam desperatly wanted to win Maria back tomorrow, he hated living that flat on his own.

Meanwhile back at the hospital Carla and Tony were still stuck on finding a name for there latest edition. "Shes so beautiful, she looks exactly like her mum" Tony said looking at his daughter. "I wonder what Elliots gonna make not being the center of attention all the time anymore" she said rocking her daughter.

"oh his going to love being a big brother, he loves Erin and when their older he can protect his little sister" Carla smiled as she gazed adoringly at her baby girl "Isabella doesnt really seam to suite her does it" Tony said there top name choice not seeming to fit, "no and neither does Gracie" Carla said dismissing Tony's favorite name. "how about Kalie" Carla asked as she looked at her baby who reminded her of a little eskimo baby with her head of dark hair and big dark blue eyes. 

The following morning Liam rushed getting ready as he spritzed on Maria's favourite collogne, one she had bought him if his memory served him right. Rushing around to his old house liam smiled as Maria opened the door with a tired looking Erin in her arms, "have you just woken up baby pie?" Liam asked as Erin held her hands out for her daddy to take her in his arms. "Hows Carla and the baby?" Maria asked not really knowing how to start up the conversation with Liam it was funny how it was so hard to talk to the man who she was still married to the man who had she had a baby with. "there good i think, cute little baby", "Liam what do we need to talk about?" Maria said as liam looked at her "us, i want my family back", "im not sure there is an us anymore" Maria said sadly.

"Why? I don't understand where it all went wrong?" Liam said putting Erin down next to her toys and taking a seat next to Maria.
"Because I started doing somthing for myself and you couldn't handle everything not being about you anymore" Maria said sighing.
"It took me time to get my head around the abortion, I'll admit but surely you can understand that" Liam reasoned.
"No Liam you weren't getting you'r head around it, you were turning it in to a drama about you, running to Carla the woman who always puts you centre of attention" Maria said.
"We are not having this argument again, how many times can I tell you me and Carla are just friends, we grew up together so we are close. But that is it" Liam said frustratedly.
Maria sighed "But thats not it Liam, she's your ex, the woman you left me for and the woman to this day your still putting before me"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I gave you the chance to come and talk about 'us' yesterday and you turn up nine hours late, without a phone call because you were with her"
"She was in labour and Tony wasnt there..."
"Dont worry I heard all about you coming to the rescue from Michelle, how do you think it was for me, hearing all about you sharing that experience with your ex?, Michelle actually thought I wanted to hear about what a hero you are" Maria said rolling her eyes.
"what would you prefer Id done leave her in her flat to give birth alone?" Liam asked.
"I'd have preferred you to have called Chelle or left her in the capable hands of the midwives. I'd prefer she didn't call you. I'd prefer you hadn't slept with her"
"Maria please you've got to realise that was a huge mistake years ago, you've got to realise theres nothing like that between us now its you and only you I want to be with" Liam said desperate to put his marrage back on tracks. Maria looked to be softening and for a split second Liam thought he was getting through to her but then Maria's eye's hardend.
"Im going to ask you this once and I want the truth" Maria said seriously.
"anything" Liam replied.
"Is Carla's baby yours?"
Liams face fell, he was sad that after all he and Maria had been through she still didn't trust him.
"I haven't cheated on you since we got back together 3 years ago, why would I look any further than you and Erin?" Liam asked

Tony arrived at the pub stll on a high from the previous days events. Michelle greated him excitedly at the door "Congratulatins daddy" she said giving him a hug. "Let me see pictures before we go in, I thought Id leave you to tell Elliot, he hasnt got a clue" Michelle said excitedly. Tony got out his phone proudly and let Michelle look through the many pictures Tony had already taken. "Aww she is absolutly stunning" Michelle said. Tony beamed "She's even more beautiful in real life and so tiny" he boasted proudly.
"And do we have a name?"
"Ye Kalie"
"aww thats perfect" Michelle said looking at the last of the photos.
"As soon as Liz finally lets me off the bar I'll be straight down the hospital" she said guiding Tony inside.
Tony had barely got through and Elliot was clung to his led. "Up dadda up" he said streching his arms out. Tony swung him in the air "you been a good boy for aunty Chelle?" he asked as he pulled him in for a cuddle. Elliot nodded "ye, I watched 'toons but I miss you" he said cuddling into Tony.

"Wheres mummy?" Elliot asked as he nestled his dark hair into the crook of Tony's shoulder. "She's at the hospital, where there's somebody who wants to meet you." Tony said as Elliot looked up with his wide eyes as he sucked on his thumb thoughtfully. "Who?" He implored as Tony chuckled at his son.

"Well do you want to come with daddy and see mummy? She misses you." Tony said as Elliot nodded, he'd missed both his mum and dad the previous night though Michelle had lavished attention on her nephew. Tony smiled as Michelle wandered in stating that Liz was going to give her the afternoon off so if Tony wanted he could take Elliot up to the hospital and she'd come later on and pick up Elliot for the evening. "If you're sure that's okay." Tony said as he watched Elliot bound off in pursuit of his drawing to show Carla.

Liam sighed as he stared at the swirling coffee in the mug. The incessant chatter of the other cafe customers was staring to annoy him but he didn't want to return to the flat and besides which at least here he wasn't driven to do something daft like down the bottle of whiskey he had in his cupboard. Sure he and Carla were close but they'd known one another from school, for years. Yes they had a past but Maria was been utterly paranoid thinking there was even a chance that Carla's new baby daughter was his. Did she honestly believe they were both that daft to sacrifice their families, had she forgotten how distraught Carla had been when there was the possibility that she might lose Tony.

Carla looked up from her baby who was nestled in her arms as the door opened, "hello mummy's little man someone wants to meet you" Carla said as Tony carried Elliot over to meet his baby sister. "This is your little sister Ell" Tony said as Elliot looked at the baby "it's a baybay" he stated "yeah she's your sister, she's going to come home with us tomorro" Carla stated as Elliot looked slightly confused, "i want cuddles off mummy" He stated as Tony placed Elliot on the floor for a moment while he took his baby girl from his wife as she picked Elliot up, "mummy i still your baby?" Elliot said as Carla cuddled her little boy as she looked at Tony warningly knowing that Elliot may not take this as well as they had hoped.

"do you know what she said" Liam stated as Michelle looked at him across the bar "who said what?" she asked, "Maria, she asked me if Carla's baby was mine!" Liam said outraged, "what why did she say that, i thought you two was getting back together", "we was planing to well at least i was" Liam stated as michelle shook her head "why whats wrong with her now? Michelle asked as Liam laughed "she's crazy, do you know what no, carla is like a sister to me, she's my best friend im not going to stop speaking to her beacuse Maria is insain".

"I suppose she's still hurting Lee. I mean at the end of the day she's right. at one point you and Carla were together." Michelle said ignoring the look her sibling was sending her way. She tilted her head to one side looking at Liam. "Well you were. I suppose she's a little insecure still. I mean Carla's very confident an...and I guess Maria could still think she wants more from you than just friendship." Michelle stated as Liam sighed. "You're right but I know Carla doesn't want anything more. She's happy, in fact I can't say I've ever seen her happier than she was yesterday when she was holding her new baby. Yeah we had a fling but that was years ago, we were both still grieving for Paul in a way I think." Liam said as Michelle went to serve Norris and Emily.

"Elliot, sweetheat. Do you want to see what Kalie brought for her big brother." Carla said bestowing a light kiss on to the top of her son's dark hair. Elliot was been a little clingy though she supposed that was to be expected given that the last time he'd been to a hospital was when Tony was recovering. Tony gently placed Kalie into the cot beside the bed and reached down for the large gift bag that was under the cot. "Now I wonder who this is for?" He said as Elliot reached his arms out.

"I think Kalie must have brought something to say how much she loves her big brother." Tony gently eased knowing that he wanted Elliot to feel included and not pushed out by the arrival of his sibling. Elliot clapped his hands as Tony placed the giftbag on the bed and then watched as Elliot tore into the bag beaming as he pulled out a Bob The Builder dressing up costume and plastic tool kit. Elliot smiled and turned to his mum. "Mine." He voiced as Carla nodded.

"That's right. From Kalie because she knows you're going to be such a good big brother and she loves you lots and lots."

"look liam i'd love to listen to you winge but i promised Tony i'd go to the hospital to see the new baby and then bring Ell back here for the night" Michelle said as she Liam laughed "fine, just dont tell Maria or she'll think your obsessed with Carla too".

"excuse me?" a voice said from behind Liam as he spun arround "you have broke that poor girls heart time and time again and its always involves that woman so i think Maria has a right to be angry at you" Audrey said as liam laughed sarcasticly "I've done nothing wrong i think people forget that she aborted my baby without consulting me and running of to do some stupid compertition in london"

"nothing wrong?" Audrey said sarcasticly as she shook her head she knew neither liam or Maria was innocent although she morialy stood by Maria being like a mother to her.

"Hello beautiful" Michelle said as she smiled at her kinda neice "oh Carla she's gorgeous" Michelle said admiring the baby lay in her arms. "I know, i cant get over how beautiful my baby girl is", "come on then champ are you going to say goodbye to mummy and daddy and come back to stop with aunty Chelle?" Michelle said  placing Kalie in the little cot. "nope, me stay with mummy" Elliot stated clingly tightly to Carla, "Ell you have to, daddy will pick you up tomorro morning and you can help Kalie get used to her knew home".

Elliot shook his little head, "No I stay baby go" Elliot said making a face at Kailie sleeping in her cot. Carla sighed she hadn't realised how hard all this would be for Elliot to understand. "Thats not very nice is it Ell?" Carla said trying to be as stern as she could with her son. "Sowy" Elliot mumbled looking at Carla with his big eyes. "Thats ok, now you ready to go to play at aunty Chelle's" Carla encouraged knowing Kalie would need a feed soon. "I don't want to go" Elliot said tears briming in his eyes as he clung tightly to Carla.
"Is he alright?" Michelle asked concernd about Elliots behaviour, he was normaly well behaved and happy to stay at hers.
"He's just been so clingy since Tony's shooting and I think being seperated from me ant Tony is hard for him. And I just don't think he understands whats going on with Kalie" Carla said looking down at Elliot who had now curled up next to her and was leaning his head on her chest.
"Come on Elliot, lets go back to mine and see if Ryans in?" Michelle said trying to prise him away from Carla.
Elliot shook his head and clung tightly to Carla. Tony could see how upset Carla was getting and stepped in. He scooped a kicking Elliot up "come on your my big boy now" Tony said. Elliot started to cry loudly and Tony knew there was no reasoning with him now. "He'll be ok when we get out of here" Michelle said but she didn't sound to confident. "Are you sure, I could take him home with me" Tony asked.
"Ye, Carla needs you here, I know how hard it is to get used to a newborn" Michelle said taking a sobbing Elliot from Tony. Tony kissed his crying son "I'll see you tommorow morning". Michelle made a quick getaway before Elliot could get any more upset.

Carla sighed and looked at Tony sadly as they listened to Elliot cry out for them both. "how are we going to cope" Carla said fighting back tears as she was feeling very hormonal. "Hey, we will be just fine" Tony said hugging Carla.

In her house Maria watched as Erin tried to stand uo herself she had mastered holding on to the couch but her first steps were proving tricky. Maria Clapped as she stood for a few seconds before falling back on her bottom. She picked Erin up and smiled at her daughter, she looked so much like Liam. She wonderd if Carla's baby looked like him. It had been playing on her mind for ages and now she had managed to convice herself the baby was Liam's. She knew if she looked at the new baby she could prove she was right about her suspicions, however much Liam said she was mad

Liam frowned as he heard his godson sobbing as Michelle headed through the Rover's with Elliot clinging to her hand, looking very sorry for his little self. "Christ Chelle what's up with him?" Liam asked as Michelle shook her head seeing the pint he was nursing. "He's not exactly taking to his little sister." Michelle said as Liam smirked shaking his head. "Hey little guy. What's up?" He said as Elliot squirmed out of Michelle's grasp and bounded to his uncle burying his head in his chest, having climbed up to the seat. "Want mummy." Elliot whimpered as Liam pulled him onto his lap.

"Ah, but mummy has to look after your new little sister." Liam reasoned as Elliot pouted in annoyance. "I don't want new sister." Elliot frowned as Liam chuckled at his nephew's reaction to his sibling. "But it'll be nice. Auntie Chelle's my sister and she's not too bad."

"But mummy love baby not Elliot." Elliot whined as Liam ruffled his dark hair playfully shaking his head at the youngster. "Aww Ell, your mummy and daddy both love you so much. Just because your sister's here it doesn't meant they don't love you. Think of all the games you'll be able to play." Liam reasoned eager to make Elliot see that having a sibling wasn't bad.

Maria sighed as Erin babbled in the bath. Liam should be here sharing moments like this but no, he was probably busy thinking about his new baby daughter. She should have seen it, after all he'd known about the pregnancy before anyone else practically, he'd seemed worried for Carla when Tony had been shot and well it all added up. Oh sure Liam might say that he and Carla only saw each other as best friend's but surely with the past they had, there had to be something else going on.

"I'm really worried that Elliot isn't going to take to her at all." Carla said as she watched Kalie as she fed, her tiny hand clasping around Carla's finger. "It's understandable, I mean he's so used to it just been the three of us. But once we get home he'll see that it doesn't change things. He's still our little boy." Tony said as he stroked his hand through Carla's dark hair, admiring his tiny baby girl that lay in her arms.

"And I love you too, so your loved lots" Liam said rubbing Elliots back reassuringly as Elliot clung to him. Liam didn't notice Audrey was watching them disapprovingly.
Elliots sobs quickly dissapeared and Liam turned him round to look at him "You ready to smile now mate?" he asked wiping away Elliots tears with a napkin. Elliott nodded slowly and smiled slightly. "No thats not good enough" Liam said lightly tickling the little boy's tummy. Elliot collapsed on top of Liam giggling and squirming. "Thats more like it" Liam said as Michelle came back through to the bar surprised to hear Elliot laughing.
"How did you do that" Michelle asked slightly miffed that her attempts at cheering Elliot up hadn't even registered. "Because Im brilliant, amn't I Ell?" Liam said as Elliot nodded. Audrey stood up from her table next to Liam
"Too bad you cant be brilliant with your own daughter" she said venomosly.
"Thats uncalled for, you should keep your nose out, Liams a brilliant dad" Michelle said in defence of her brother. Audrey rolled her eyes and walked out of the pub.

At the hospital, Tony and Carla were still marvelling at Kalie as she finished her feed. "Hungry little thing, isnt she" Tony said.
"Ye shes really picked up feeding quickly" Carla said proudly stroking her daughters cheek.
When Kalie was finished her feed and Carla was burping her Tony knew it was time to leave.
"Im going to get off get everything ready for my girls coming home" he announced.
"Ok remember to you have to fit the new car seat....oh and put the cot up...I dont suppose she'll use her room much so that will give us a chance to paint it" Carla said sadly knowing her and Tony hadn't got round to doing the nusery before she went into labour. "Dont you worry about anything I'll sort it all" Tony said smilling, he had hired a decorator to do the nusery over the past couple of days and it should be just about finished.

Audrey decided to pop in on Maria on her way home thinking she would be bored stuck in the house with only Erin for company.
When Maria answered the door she was shocked to see Maria crying holding Erin. "Oh lovey whats happened now, is Erin ok?"
Maria nodded and let Audrey in "Its Liam" Maria said through sobs.
"Whats he done now?" Audrey asked concernd.
"He's had a baby with Carla" Maria blurted out. Audrey gasped
"That baby Carla just had? Are you saying its Liams? When did he tell you?" Audrey asked not quite believing what she was hearing. Sure she gave Liam a hard time but she didn't really think he would do this to Maria.
"He hasn't told me, but I just know, I just know it, everything adds up now, he was even at the birth" Maria ranted. Audrey was now getting concerned about Maria's mental stability. "Why dont we have a cup of tea an talk about it?" Audrey suggested.
"I don't want to talk about it, I have to see that baby, I have to tell Tony the baby's not his" Maria said trying to pass Erin to audrey.

Audrey sighed as she took the squirming tot from Maria’s arms. “Love don’t you think you should talk to Liam first. See what he ahs to say. I mean perhaps there’s an innocent explanation.” Audrey said thinking it wise not to voice the way Liam had been in the pub with Carla’s son. “Oh like he’s going to tell me what he’s done. No I need to go to the hospital.” Maria ranted as Audrey frowned. She was been irrational. Erin seemed to be able to pick up on her mother’s mood and let out an irritated squeal. “Maria love there’s no point going tot the hospital, visiting hours will be over.” Audrey said knowing that if Maria bound off demanding answers she’d be likely to be arrested or something.

Tony headed to the Rovers to pick up his son, he knew it was later than usual for Elliot’s bedtime but he hoped Elliot was still awake as he wanted him to see that he was important. Pulling up at the factory car-park he headed across the road towards the pub wandering whether Elliot had cheered up from his earlier tears and tantrums. “Alright Mr.T I hear congrats are in order.” Kelly heckled from her spot near the bar where she, Janice and Sean were busy gossiping. “Thank you Kelly.” Tony said getting his wallet out intending to buy the workers a drink each in celebration of his new baby daughter. “Dada!” Tony turned around and chuckled as Elliot swarmed to his father’s open arms and found himself hiked up onto Tony’s side. “Hey little man, that’s better.”

“Hey, he eighteen!” Liz said warningly as Michelle wrinkled her nose.

“Aww come on I just want to buy everyone a drink.” Tony said as Liz sighed and nodded her head. “Cheers Mr T.” Sean yelled across the bar as Tony passed a wad of notes across to Liz. “That should cover everyone, let me know if you need anymore.” Tony said as he looked over to where Liam was sat. “C’mon then mate, you say night to Uncle Liam and then we go home.” Tony said feeling Elliot loll his head against his dad’s shoulder.

Maria stood in the pub doorway and shuddered in disgust at the sight of liam hugging Carla's child "night night Ell, you going to be the bestest big brother ever when Kalie comes home tomorro? yeah" Liam said as Elliot nodded as liam handed the the little boy back over to Tony. "you lot discused me, you should be on jeremy kyle or something" Maria stated as Liam turned arround. "oh what now Maria, here to acuse me of anything else" Liam stated as Tony continued to say bye and went to walk out, "how can you say bye to him when his the father of your wifes baby" Maria said as Tony went to walk past. "i dont know what your talking about" Tony said shaking his head. "your little girl, well liams little girl isnt it obvious its his?" Maria stated errationally. "Carla is like my sister iv already told you i wouldnt do that" Liam stated as Maria shook her head "you already did that though didnt you, come on Tony surely it adds up". "not really" Tony stated although he now wasnt 100% sure himself he was a jealous man at the best of times. "why cant you admit its her you want liam its always been her" Maria said now crying hystericlly as liam shook his head "no it was you i wanted, but do you know what im not so sure now" Liam stated, "im sorry about that mate" Liam said to Tony as he walked out past a crying Maria, "no worrys, want a lift?" Tony offered as he also walked out "cheers mate" Liam said getting in the passager side of the car as Tony strapped Elliot in his car seat his smile quickly fading as he shut the car door his face out of view from his son and Liam.

 After putting Elliot down in his little thomas the tank toddler bed and making sure he was definatly asleep, tony walking into there office, pulling open one of the draws he removed wads of paper work before coming across what he was looking for. The piece of paper concluding Elliot was his son, he had made Carla have a DNA test on his baby 2 years ago when Elliot was born because he had a niggle of doubt that the baby wasnt his but Liam and he knew how much carla had protested wanting Tony to trust her as even then it had been over 2 years since Liam and Carla had split. Did he really want to drag Carla though all that again and make her think he didnt trust her, but could he live not really knowing if Kalie was his.
