    Re: Tonsil stones/tonsilloliths

Yeh i used to get the all the time, they stink so bad, so i looked it up on the net, printed the research off and took it to my docs! I had my tonsils out last Monday which killed but the hospital said i wont get the balls any more!

I know this sounds horrible but you can actually pick the balls out, if you push down at the top on the hole where they come from there will probably be more than one, thats the only way i could get rid off them!!! Other than that, having your tonsils removed will make sure they dont come back!!! Crying but it really hurts!!!

    Re: Tonsil stones/tonsilloliths

I've got really severe Halitosis and can't get rid of it. I've tried EVERYTHING and I clean my teeth, floss, tongue scrape and use Retardex mouthwash all 2-3 times a day and I carry sugar free chewing gum with at ALL times, yet none of these work. I have coughed up these vile white stone type things a good few times but thought it was just me and didn't really look in to it until today as I was so embarrased. Now I realise it's quite common to have Tonsil stones. Did you/or do you have Halitosis? and if so do you think that by having my tonsils removed will get rid of the Halitosis as it's ruining my life and i'm only 25! Please get back to me if you can.

    Re: Tonsil stones/tonsilloliths

    Hi.

I have experienced bad breath and tonsil stones! Yes it's very embarassing! I have had them for the past 7 months, been to 2 doctors and they more or less laughed at me and said well its not really life threatening is it? It's not, but it's uncomfortable and who wants to be coughing these things up that make ur breath really smelly?

I cough up tonsil stones morning noon and night. I can always feel them in my tonsils now (feels like there is a hair at the back of ur throat) you cough to get them up, they wont come up so i get a cotton ear bud and push them out with this.

I have read before that it is due to nasal drip..i do think this is right with me anyway as i am constantly flemy. I gargle with salt & water every day but they just keep coming back. I need something! The doctors aren't listening. I want my tonsils out but they are really strict now with taking ur tonsils out. I am fed up with coughing these smelly stones up and i just want rid of them!!

I do think that these tonsil stones are what's causing our smelly breaths...i never had smelly breath until having these stones. The stones smell of poop and our breaths prob smell like this so i do think that the doctors shouldnt be so insensitive and do their job!!

    Re: Tonsil stones/tonsilloliths

this is so intersting, i've had this for about ten years, now 22, and just thought it was me, not until now was i aware other people had it and there was a genuine condition.

i've discovered through trial and error that coke has a bad effect and now avoid it at all costs, i'm also a bit of a freak in the sense i can squeeze my tonsils so can squeeze the white bits out.

i've tried many mouthwashes and toothpastes and tbh none really make much difference.

in recent years i've had loads of problems with tonsilitas, larangitis and general infections to which finally i've been referred to a ear nose and throat specialist who has done an endosocpy and can't find much

wrong so is now sending me to a speech therapist and doesn't want to remove my tonsils to my disappointment. i'm very tempted to go private, i'm only off work today due to some throat infection, back to the gp this afternoon.

    Re: Tonsil stones/tonsilloliths

Embarrassed I have suffered from this for a few years and i hate it!, i have what looks like cysts or pitted lumps one at either side of my throught that fill up and then produce the horrible smelly "stones" i had been to the doctors and asked about it regularly, i was told by more than one GP that it is common and nothing to worry about and if possible to bring them a sample of one of the stones! eugh no!, it is embarrassing enough as it is!.

I suffer from tonsallitus atleast once or twice a year and have constant sore & tickly throught infections, i asked to have my tonsils taken out as a teenager and many times since but have always been fobbed off!.

I recently decided to change my diet and experiment, i discovered that cutting out wheat products has made a major difference, i have had no stones at all since!! Big Smile and have felt alot healthyer for it, i also lost 4lbs in the first week just from cutting out wheat products! lol

so any other sufferers out there give why not give it a try for a cupple of weeks to see if it makes a difference to you, id say it's defonatley worth it!.
