    Re: Rabbit Run 2009

Something of interest to all the AMG drivers, I tried this today and it does work.

As you know our cars have the annoying habit of 'learning' your driving habits and changing the shift patterns and throttle responses to match. So lots of constant speed/commute driving really seems to make them 'sluggish'. For Keyless cars just remove the 'stud' and use the key for this as it's not very good at turning 'off' with the key in :D

    Do this:

    1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

    2. Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.

    3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the accelerator pedal.

    4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

This only resets the 'learning' transmission to default mode, nothing else. No damage can be caused etc. And if you end up getting stuck in traffic etc again  it'll relearn over 40 gear shifts

SL55 AMG for me, saw a really nice 03 one for about 26k on pistonheads (think it was 03). That's a lot of car for £26k

    Re: Rabbit Run 2009

Wallop!  James here from RR08 (BMW M6).  I'm gutted I can't make it (go on holiday on the Saturday), and can feel the buzz and excitement as it's now 6 weeks away.

Sounds like you're going to have a really decent time, and it also sounds like there is an interesting mix of cars this year.  On 08 if you'd seen one black 911T then you'd seen them all (eh Turbo Boy!).  So is it the same plan then, 3 teams, one team dressed in pink?

Advice to the Newbies - Find a round beer mat (prefarably unused) and selotape it over your speedo!

Ouote from JS over CB on 08 "Right guys, we're all back together as the RX7 has caught up, time now to pick up the pace!"  That's fair enough, but we were already doing 140!

Have a good one and I'll keep up to date with the Banter!

     James

    Re: Rabbit Run 2009

I remember that!!! We were unfortunately the last to leave the petrol station i think! hence the need to catch up. But we made it. As you say we were doing the national speed limit at the time (eh hm 140).

Sorry to hear you can't make it this year! See you in 2010 i hope and at the reunion.Beer

We did stick together a few times in particular leaving Montreau where i was the first to leave after Craig's little pep talk on the route we were going to take (turning left out of the hotel) . I think you were behind me. Then about 1 min after we had left and parked up waiting for the rest of the team to catch up a message on the CB - 'Guys, change of plan we going Right now - Jon's idea i think!!!

However the scenery was fantastic and the roads were unbelievable. Yes

Team 1 to win this year!

By the way RX8 not 7! Automobile

    Re: Rabbit Run 2009

Is there something wrong with the main site.. I dont seem to be able to navigate past the front screen just keeps coming up as if the site is down..

Tried with firefox, google chrome, IE and opera and all the same.

I was hoping to catch up as I've been in hospital till earlier and missed all the banter since Saturday night... I want to see the teams.

P.S. My Video camera is 3CCD Panasonic which i believe is transmission quality and is minidv so should be good for some good footage.

    Cheers for now.

    Re: Rabbit Run 2009

Hi V8 Bus copilot, good to have you on the forum mate. Hope you have been able to get on the site ok, all seems good now. Hope nothing too serious at hospital.

The teams are looking good and it looks like due to demand we are seeing if we can take 3 more cars (depends on the hotels), this will up us to 6 cars per team wich is a good number.

Looks forwards to meeting the Rabbit Run newbies

    Cheers

    Re: Rabbit Run 2009

    Hi Martyn

The 3 other cars that should go on next week (fingers crossed) are

    Paul + Sarah RS4

James + Nick 335i cab (newbies)

    Stuart + ? M3 cab (newbie)

There are also four other cars that have paid their deposits but not their final payments, but for those guys time is running out !!!!
