    Yep - there's still a Nick-shaped hole this series......

DouglasHenshall.com has the script from the radio interview up from May 14th. Quite interesting if you can read  between the lines...

Yeah, I listened to that and read the transcript - really interesting!

It felt like he was trying not to say anything too derogatory about S3, but its pretty clear he didn't like Cutter's ending any more than we did - he'd rather have gone through an anomaly or been eaten by a dinosaur (think that was on GMTV interview) and I did wonder if he was entirely joking about Adrian not liking him too much anymore because he chose to leave!

He's also made it very clear that he gave them plenty of notice that he was going (at the end of S2, I believe) which means there was no excuse for not tying up so many of the ongoing storylines and giving the character a more fitting ending...... No

Yeah, I thought he was more snappy than in the other interviews. Particularly the lined where the moderator asks him about if the others miss him. He sounds  upstage. He makes it very clear that he knows that is was/is his show (the moderator was SO right- it's good that someone tells Dougie that sometimes)

and I did wonder if he was entirely joking about Adrian not liking him too much anymore because he chose to leave!

I wondered that too. I'm sure there's more to it than Dougie wants to admit. It's somehow weird how he speaks about that he doesn't want the show to be too successful.

He's also made it very clear that he gave them plenty of notice that he was going (at the end of S2, I believe) which means there was no excuse for not tying up so many of the ongoing storylines and giving the character a more fitting ending...... No

The problem is that Adrian thought that Cutter's death was done "in a beautiful way" but most people obviously don't agree with him. I don't understand why they cared so less about the character who carried the show from the beginning.

Dougie said that they made Helen shot Cutter because they wanted that there was no way back. Problem is that they already hinted in 2.07 that Helen would bring back Stephen. They should stop giving the fans hope when there is no.No

Trouble is, with a series like Primeval involving time-travel, there's always the chance of a character returning - so why not just give Nick a better ending? The fans will always hope that he'll be back whatever happens.....

Me too. You really realise what the show has lost in a cruel way. But another sad scene is when Jenny leaves. I feel almost more sorry for her, because she couldn't tell Nick how she felt and she looked so sad and so lost without him.Crying

Seemingly the show has got last without the character too, watching season 1 & 2 makes me miss good old primeval episodes when i realize that the show is probably never gonna be this good and intelligent again. I have never really got round to classing season 3 as the same show as season 1 & 2 it is too different, generic and changed and not for the better in my opinion. But i do recomend to anyone to re-watch seasons 1 & 2 even though it is a bit of a downer to say when you realized how much the show has changed and lost it is great and reminds you of how amazing primeval actualy was and you get see all our old hereos working together again Big Smile. Yes In brillant situations and story archs, with amazing interactions and relationships. Although if you are like me it makes you want to deny all knowledge of the majority of season 3 lol *denies* Stick out tongue

You know, series 3 is currently non existent for me....or just like a spin-off or something. I hope it gets better in series 4 because it will be a fresh start and all characters are there from the beginning and hopefully no one will die in between again *fingerscrossed*.

I know what you mean - it just isn't anything like the original and best!

If we do get an S4 (fingers crossed) we need some seriously strong scripts to lure back some of the original cast, expecially Dougie and Lucy, to interact with the new characters. It could lead to some excellent future drama - just the thought of it is so tempting!

    Also miss Dougie so much.....

i would love it if they returned, even if only for a couple of episodes! They could say Cutter and Claudia have been off in another anomoly watching and monitoring them, ready to come back and help them fight their biggest danger yet one day Big Smile and also Cutter could leave little clues about like Helen did to show he's back ...

I miss him too. And yes it would be great if those two (Dougie and Lucy) could come back just for a few episodes.  That would be a bow down to the fans.
But I stick with Jenny if Lucy comes back, because she just started to evolve so much in series 3. She's such a great character.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten

    Just basically....WE MISS CUTTER!

And to be honest...I didn't think his death was that...big. (And I love Cutter, he was and still is my favourite character.) Like, in Torchwood (NOT trying to discuss Torchwood VS Primeval here, I'm just saying,) when Tosh died at the end I was nearly crying, but when Cutter died, it somehow just wasn't as touching or anything.

I really, really hope he does return briefly in the last episode. I know he won't be back in series 4, but there really are some loose ends that need tying up between him and Claudia/Jenny.

Yeah I know most of the Cutterfans here agree with you that his death really wasn't that big and great like they promised us...:(
