    Re: Primeval Series 4?

I could not agree more having watched the first run and now watching again the re run on ITV2, this series had more to it than just the characters. (Take spooks on BBC for instance I think there is only 1 character left from the original series) Primeval has a long way to go yet, the concept is brilliant it realy is let your imagination take over time, anything can happen.

Lets hope someone somewhere in this country has the guts to back this series and give ITV a program worth watching!

I won't watch ITV anymore until they put Primeval back on tv. I'm not happy with ITV. Angry  When i read that it was axed, i burst into tears.Crying I have loads of friends who watch Primeval and we're all not happy. The ending was a great cliffhanger. So many things that get you guessing about what could happen next. If ITV won't put Primeval back on, we'll never find out how Danny, Connor and Abby get back to present day. Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PUT IT BACK ON TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super Angry

    Re: Primeval Series 4?

i just moved here from canada and we dont get primeval there, which is a real shame. but my main problem with the **** itv are pulling is british tv sucks! i have finally managed to find a show i look forward to more than anything, i mean i set reminders for it even though i know ts on, just in case the show im watching before primeval overlaps it by a few minutes, and they freaking cancel it on me! they cant leave it like this, its just wrong! why the hell would you make a cliffhanger like that for the final episode? thats even worse than when the sopranos ended right in the middle of a sentence. ITV you guys need to put primeval back on the air before you lose a lot of  viewers

No doubt about it, he was sorely missed in S3 - but it depends if Dougie can be persuaded, of course.....

DH's latest interview didn't sound too encouraging - he really seems to have put Primeval behind him. On the other hand, if Nick were to return, it would probably be a surprise plot twist so he wouldn't exactly be blabbing the news at this stage.

A lot depends on whether TPTB have 'forgiven' Dougie for leaving - it just seems to me that most of the problems of S3 were a direct result of the writers wanting to wipe Nick Cutter (and everything associated with him) out of the Primeval universe. It felt as though they were so upset with Dougie that they weren't thinking straight. They made some panicky casting decisions, a hopelessly wrong choice in the kind of character they wrote for Danny, and dropped all the thoughtful Nick Cutter-style introspection about the anomalies in favour of all-action brainlessness. It felt like they were trying to prove they didn't need DH and that the show would be better without him, and it backfired badly. Even if Dougie doesn't want to come back, they need to reintroduce some of the intelligence that was part of Cutter's story.

Hi Jay95 - sound thoughts, as ever!

As a huge Dougie fan, obviously I (and undoubtedly many other fans) would love to see DH back in the role of Nick, even if just for a guest appearance. I realise this is probably unlikely, given that it seems he left rather sooner than the powers that be would have liked, but it would be great if bygones could be bygones and he could be persuaded out of Primeval retirement...... !

Failing that, I totally agree about the direction S3 was heading - S4 desperately needs the reintroduction of the values and ideals of the first two series. Central to this is the character of Danny and his future role. If the character continues in the same vein (as "cardboard cut-out action man") with little or no development, then we are stuck in S3 Groundhog Day, and so many opportunities for improvement will be missed.

S4 is a chance for a return to greatness - I just hope the writers take note...... !
