Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I agree - I'm totally disappointed that all of a sudden they've decided to drop The Bill - I didn't know this was going to happen so quickly.  It is great entertainment especially as sometimes there is not much worth watching.

I've heard that its supposed to be on ITV2 or 3 but don't know for sure when or if its just a rumour, hope that it will be on one of these as it was fantastic.

Come on - let us know if Scotland can watch the bill on another channel - I miss it.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

ITV London on sky is channel 993 I too am furious with STV for presuming we all want home grown garbage which is what we will get going by previous attempts oh sure there are the odd one off good shows but what thet are replacing popular shows with is to be honest just a cheap alternative under the guise of diversity for the viewer well this viewer will now be watching ITV London and wont even put STV on until they change their stance I dont even watch their local news as I prefer Sky news or if local BBC Scotland  all i can say is STV get a grip we pay your wages not the other way round hope the advertisers recognise this and vote with their feet with digital almost everywhere now remember even corrie and emmerdale can be watched on alternative channels.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I'm annoyed too, especially since all these traditional Scottish programmes tend to be really boring anyway!

It's repeated on ITV3 on Monday nights in Scotland at the very late time of 11pm! Anyone who has Sky can watch it at the same time as everyone else (9pm Thursdays) if you add channel 993 ITV London. Bit of an unnecessary complication but guess it's the only way not to miss out!

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I think ist absolutley terrible that we cant watch the bill on stv, ive watched it for years now and have hardly missed an episode.

to my knowledge there is only one way we can watch it and that is buy watching it on itv's website live, but the picture quality is poor.  stv should get their act together and show it.Yes

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

According to The Bill's website, we in Scotland should beable to view episodes on ITV3 on Monday nights at 11pm.  However, I have checked the listings and there is no sign of it yet!!!

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

It is totally rediculous that we have to suffer because of some high handed programmer in STV has decided that we have to have some tartan drum bashing programme instead of the much loved and watched Bill.  I am totally furious as it is the only programme I watch every week, or record if I am to be out.  The Scottish programme could replace some of the repeats!!  Who appointed this person or persons and why have the viewing public not had a say i the progrmmes we watch.

Sad [:(] Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I totally agree with you.   I have watched The Bill since it first started and not missed an episode.  I was furious that we had all this hype on the TV about its new time slot and changes in characters only to find out in a local newspapers that it was being axed by STV and those of us who do not have sky or satellite would not be able to get it at all.   I have a parent who is disabled and their only pleasure is watching their favourite programmes on the TV and as for watching it on a computer.   The TV companies assume that everyone has a computer in their homes and can use one.   What about all the elderly people living alone who don't.   How are they supposed to be able to access their favourite programmes.

I actually wrote to STV and here is their reply - just what we all wanted

STV has recently launched a strategy to take greater control of our schedule. Our aim is to provide viewers with a diverse schedule of Scottish programming and acquired series, to complement the large amount of quality network material that our viewers already enjoy.

To accommodate this new programming it will inevitably mean displacing other material and we will be using the peak-time slot at 9pm on Thursday evenings from 23rd July, previously designated for The Bill.

New programming from STV will span a range of genre, including: a celeb-packed documentary series called Made In Scotland, examining the iconic symbols that give Scotland such strong visibility internationally; a visually stunning exploration of Scotland from the air, entitled Scotland Revealed; and a fascinating series covering the stories of the many Scots who fought against Franco in the Spanish Civil War, called Homage to Caledonia.  We'll be announcing even more new programming over the next few months.

Please be assured that we are absolutely committed to maintaining a healthy creative industry in Scotland by investing in new, high quality Scottish productions and creating a diverse schedule for viewers.

We hope you enjoy this new programming from STV and thank you again for getting in touch.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I agree with everything that everyone has said . STV are just not capable of producing a profesional programme of their own . How many of their programmes are networked ? (Has anyone watched the dreadful five o'clock show ? ) The programmes they are going to replace the bill with are boring patriotic documentries . To air these at peak viewing time is just insane . To scrap such a popular programme as the bill in favour of this rubbish is just beyond comprehension . I suggest that everyone should make their views known to  yourview@stv.tv .

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

They kept it pretty quiet too- I remember smithy and callum (can't remember the actors' names....) being on This Morning and they spoke about the new time slots. There was no mention of it not being available on STV!

And it's all very well it being on ITV London or ITV3 but not all of us have Sky, and because of some sort of rights issue we can't watch it on iPlayer. So those of use without sky are left with nothing.

Come on STV. I AM Scottish, i don't really feel the need to bolster my scottish pride by watching some Kirsty Wark rubbish every thursday night. There's no sense in forcing it down MY throat, go peddle your twee highland rubbish down those english throats!!

    Is there a petition anywhere?

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

That's the standard reply to every-one. which translates as "we'll be making programmes about Scotland , in Scotland by Scottish people and they'll be , really ,  Scottish.. and cheap "

"homage to Caledonia " , how cringe-making is that?
