I'll join that minority if you don't mind Herne I too liked those scenes. Also that is why I didn't want Cain to make Debbie choose.

I love Charity and was so unhappy when she left last time. However she was more a victim before as she was struggling against the Kings and got pushed downstairs.  What really upset me was the deprture of Cain this week. Is he coming back?  Debbie needs her head examining he stood by her and bailed her out financially and now she has rejected him.  Not nice Debbie not nice.

Debbie didn't actually reject Cain she refused to kick her mum out & Cain reacted by going off

There is a rumour that there's going to be some sort of explosion/fire in the coming weeks - maybe a good overhaul is in need now that so many characters are returning.

Sorry to disappoint everyone but if any characters go out in the explosion, I think it's Sally and Laurel

It was all his own doing, he was very childish by demanding she choose betweet her mum and dad. No matter who they're parents are, no child should be forced to choose.

Charity did the same thing when she left the village asking Debbie to choose between her and Cain and Debbie chose Cain that time.

I've just seen Emma Atkins in a Dalziel and Pascoe re-run (2006) and she looked really good.  Hair in a short ponytail.

I'll probably be a minority of one here, but I really enjoy Cain and Charity together.  They understand each other.  They KNOW each other.  If ever there was a wrong side of the tracks, they're from it, but they never give in.  Amoral, scheming, deceiving but never wimpy or timid.  I really enjoyed the scenes when Cain carried her out of the fight and their conversation afterwards.  But ofcourse, being them, it all had to end in acrimony.

No, you're not on your own, I love them together as well. There are sparks between the two characters -  probably never be a happy-ever-after couple but doubt if they are really happy without each other. Want Cain back so they can have more scenes together!

    Re: Charity?

I find that both characters work better individually rather than ram this so called-isn't there sexual chemistry. I find it amazing that people encourage incest on this board and indeed in the Emmerdale writers' room.

    Re: Charity?

I'd say there are real sparks between Cain and Charity.  And I wouldn't use the word incest -  that only applies to members of the same immediate family.  Charity is the daughter or niece (family tree is a bit vague here) of a COUSIN of Zach.  Kissing cousins at most.

    Re: Charity?

How pathetic was that Jewellry "scam" tonight.  Like a self made businessman like Mark would be gullible enough to hand over £2k in a pub for jewellry without even getting it valued, especially to a pair like Charity and Debbie.   I suspect this to to be a new "career" for mother and daughter.  And whats with all these meetings in the Woolie bogs all the time?Tongue Tied

     Very true, badlads.

Zak is Cains father.  Charity is either the niece OR the daughter of Zaks COUSIN.  If she is the niece of Zaks cousin, it makes her and Cain so distantly related that they hardly count as blood family,  and even if she is the daughter of Zaks cousin it would take a genealogist some time to work out how many umpteen times 'removed'  they are as cousins..

They'd be second cousins with no removals, I think. It's basically worked out by which relatives you share that are the same, and how many generations apart you are. Charity and Cain are in the same generation, so there would be no removals, but they share great-grandparents, so they'd be second cousins. If they shared the same grandparents, then they'd be first cousins. The more greats there are, the higher the number beforehand, so if they shared great-great-grandparents, they'd be third cousins, great-great-great-grandparents fourth cousins and so on.

    I think that makes sense?

    Re: Charity?

hermione, does that mean that Zak and Charity are second cousins, once removed.  And if Charity is the daughter of a cousin of Zak's cousin, what would the relationship be.  (I know I'm indulging myself here, but I spent ages at the archives in Cape Town, trying to work out my fathers large, extended family and emerged with head reeling  -  it's something that has always fascinated me)

    Re: Charity?

They're blood related. That should be sick enough.
