    I completely agree,its called britians best dish not best cook/chef.

    All the dishes should be authentic british regional dishes.

    Come on ITV get your act together.

    Would you believe I found your post in the results of a search for Yorkshire pudding.

    However, I would like to endorse your definition of a pie. Spot on.

    I didn't see the programme that you referred to but you need to be careful when commenting on origins.

    If the dish that you described as Indian was flavoured with curry powder then it is probably English. Indians do not use curry powder in their cooking, each dish has its own combination of spices. Curry powder originates in the days of the East India Company when retiring personnel who had worked in India for many years before returning to the UK would visit their local spice dealer for a mixture of spices to bring home.

    Fudgie is probably American, that's the way they write the date. They make all sorts of sillies with the language. The nearest thing to a muffin they call a biscuit, then they make a cupcake and call it an English Muffin.
