Seems like RE is struggling to defend his mighty hero....
Well, on this occasion I will help RE:
Friday crash - finding the limit of the car... okay, fair enough...
Poor start - still finding the limit but instead found the speed limiter button (5mph)...
Race crash with Alonso - still finding the limit on how much acceleration he needs to be able to launch himself into the air (at Alonso expense)...
McLarens new sponsor, Easyjet

stigga: awshucks:For two drivers on the same team to have a problem with the speed limiter button in successive races suggests there is a design problem. (is it not 60 mph 5 seems a little on the low side)
It certainly suggests a fundamental error, surely it wouldn't be to much of a task to alter the configuration or add some kind of over ride, I'd always given Hamilton the benefit of the doubt over the "gearbox" problem last season, this at least casts some shadow of doubt on whether he was himself responsible, and after Martin Whitmarsh claiming that Hamiltons wing broke "about 2 seconds before his imapct with Alonso" when the evidence clearly shows this not to be the case, well one can hardly help but wonder at the lengths the team will go to in order to cover up Hamiltons errors.
McLaren could replace the the steering wheel with a device similar to a playstation handset. I am sure their drivers would be more used to the layout.

If Hamilton doesnt grow up and still refuses to test on the simulator in personal preference to play on his playstation, I guess they will had to. And Heikki pressing the wrong Button after he overtook Alonso (crumbs)

I reckon Renault have built Alonso a '*** Dastardly' car - every time a McLaren comes within striking distance he punches a special 'Anti-Mac' button which causes their drivers to do something awe-inspiringly stupid.
(large amounts of humorous icons for those who may be inclined to think that I'm being serious!!)
Back on the subject of the thread - Hamilton will win a WDC when he drives consistently and scores more points than anyone else, simple really! It could be this season, next season or in ten years time but I think, and hope, that it will happen. There are some fantastic circuits being built in the Middle and Far East with great facilities, good access, well designed tracks and liked by drivers, teams and fans. One important aspect of keeping Silverstone on the calendar at the moment is good attendance and a crowd-pleasing, potential WDC Brit. Whether you love him or hate him, realistically F1 in the UK needs LH, or someone like him, if we're going to keep our GP and our mainstream TV coverage.
Also, to those who think the coverage of him is over the top - were you not there during Mansell Mania??? It was just as bad, if not worse - we just didn't have internet forums to post all our gripes on back in those days!

I have to disagree. As long as you score more points you do not even have to be consistent...

A true lady, as always, Kitten! Glad to see more of your posts the last couple of days, and even though I am jealous, glad to hear you had a good time in Bahrain! So what was it like going there? Any trouble with facilities or traffic? And what kind of show did they put up? I was seeing Jacques Villeneuve was racing in a support race? If you can, a race report as a new post would be nice.

RaggedEdge:
LH was the moral winner of the 2007 WDC already... Kimi only got it gifted in the end through a series of 100% avoidable problems from McLaren and FIA politics.
LH car control is still there, and I expect to see it soon enough...
Kimi and Massa haves made far worse mistakes then Hamilton's to date, so there is a lot of possibility for LH to get back into the groove...
You better hope that Hamilton gets back to his pre China form soon, otherwise the mistakes in the last 5 races are not a promising outlook. I don't think that anybody can serioulsy say that Raikkonen's and Massa's mistakes in the last 5 races were worse. Most of what you call mistakes by the Ferrari drivers were technical problems. I can only see on technical problem with Hamilton's gearbox in Brazil,
You can bet that pressing the right key combination before a race is a lot easier to learn for Hamilton, then for Kimi, who has to learn to judge braking distances, and ensure he keeps the car off the grass... And on top of that, Kimi has a fundamental problem with his pace in relation to MS's old side kick... that is a far steeper hill to climb.
Hamilton is now the hunter, this will produce an interest point for me.
Hamilton is now the shunter .

I was actually hoping to see McLaren build a rubbish car this year. I would love to see him in a slow car. That would be fantastic to watch. Then all the the front runners could refer to him as a monkey at the back.

If he keeps on pressing the wrong button at the starts, we will see him at the back of the grid.

In reality, it's Kimi who's seat will be under threat from Alonso, Kubica or anyone else that can actually drive faster the MS's old side kick.
LH simply needs to do less phycological thinking, which I suspect is the source of his reduced aggression, and get back to hard core racing - he has the fundamentals to win on merit.
