goodie2shooz, many of us have indeed written to STV regarding the issue, but this thread was mainly to blow off steam and canvass opinions given that STV conveniently don't have any notable disussion forums. This was started before repeats were scheduled for ITV3, and I and no doubt the majority do wholeheartedly applaud ITV for arranging it. Credit where credit's due and all that. At least we now have some way of watching it.
The point is that STV are giving their viewers no say in these daft and completely unnecessary ITV opt-outs and that is one of the major issues that I for one have with the station. It should not be the case that a national TV station is so reluctant to communicate with the people around the country who pay the TV licence fees and in doing so allow the channel to operate, in turn keeping many of their employees in jobs. We provide the audience so why should we not be allowed to express our opinions (or indeed be officially notified of decisions cast) regarding what should or should not be broadcast before such decisions are made.
I spent about half an hour of my time (wasted time that is) writing out a very lengthy email expressing my sheer disappointment in not only the opt-outs of 'The Bill' and such like, but also various other issues concerning their organisation, which I won't go into again. Needless to say I wasn't given the decency of a reply to that message, whether that was partially down to the at times sarcastic and extremely frustrated tone in which it was written, who knows, but they are doing absolutely nothing to endear themselves to, from my own point of view, a fairly disillusioned viewer who has championed STV for many a year. It's a good job programmes like 'Send in the Dogs' are available through the ITV player, because there is no way I'm giving STV the time of day at the minute. Local news/football coverage I can get online but granted, the one thing I can actually praise STV for is the fact that their news coverage is far more region-based, and the sports segment is a credit to the station (unlike the west-coast biased BBC).
ITV I don't have a problem with whatsoever. As I say, many thanks to them for taking the steps to ensure that we Scots will not miss out.
