Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
We have had, why should we have series for? - we should do a, why should Nick Cutter return to the show and how?, or why should Primeval go back to the way it was written before (1&2)?. With some of the great debators on here i am sure it would be interesting to see why people think he should come back, plus we would we be able to share ideas as to how (in a hypothetical world) it would work and why it should happen.
Also on a side note i have been noticing that a lot of the season 3 fans are newbies to the forum (not that i can say much as i am relitively new but have just posted kinda a lot) obviously not all of them.
I think that it has just attracted a different audience but lost some of its other fans because of this (viewer figures back this up), you can ususaly tell the differences in the audiences by the differences in the posts as a whole (not everyone and every post obviously). My cry is that it isn't really fair on the other fans, there plenty of shows out there that are like primeval season 3 and there are tons of them generic shows for people, while season 1 & 2 although still having the action and CGI gave us something else, new, different, intelligent and a show that didn't doubt its audiences intelligence - alot like Lost which is a very unique and successful show and one of the best written series i have ever watched if not the best when it comes to story arches, and Primeval season 1 & 2s intellegence was right up there with Lost. It would be nice to have more shows that work by using the audiences intelligence to their advantage. Primeval was one of these few shows and now it is not i suppose that is what is annoying a lot of the time. Also while talking about lost the acting in Primeval used to be brillant and on par if not better than Lost (which has some ***brillant actors in it).
Sorry ranting again lol...

Ehm yeah...the level is going down a little bit and I'm a bit tired of some posts. But yeah, the idea with the "Why should Cutter come back thread" sounds great.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
I think thats a good idea - no doubt it will attract some "oh, they're being negative again" publicity from those who don't seem to understand that the Primeval forum incorporates views and ideas of fans from all three series......
But, then again, does that really matter??

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
I've been a fan of the series since watching the first episode. I enojoyed the way the series took a number of unexpected turns, very much like another of my fave series 'Babylon 5'.
If there is to be a forth series then I hope the writers tightens things up a bit, the anomolies need to be found outside of London (I know that will increase the filming costs, but surely they must appear in other areas in the UK? Or are there other 'Ark's out there now?). And they need to have more varied storylines, not 'oh, here is an anomaly, and lets chase what come's out of it...'.
We also need to find out more about Helen, how does she make her clone warriors, has she got a secret base, what is the hexagonal device and why did she carry it around, where did she get all that high-tec equipment etc etc etc.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
I completely agree.
Glad to hear I wasn't the only one with tears streaming down my face. I cried for an hour after Cutter's death
Was very well acted/written & I too just willed Jenny to grab him and for Nick to not go back for Helen.
Lucy Brown & Dougie Henshall really do have that chemistry and Claudia/Jenny & Nick are destined for eachother.
They have to bring the two of them together again somehow. I agree that they have left many questions open and unanswered but maybe this is for the return of the two characters?
Dougie always said he didn't want to get to the stage where he wasn't enjoying acting, so decided it was time for a change. Such a shame though, and he really was 'Primeval' the leader of the team, just wished he could've been there for the finale.

I'm starting to think i am the only one who didn't cry - i feel like a trator lol - although i did argue with the T.V while it was happening - which did get me some strange looks.
I loved Cutter's last line to Helen, i wasn't happy about how he died and well the fact that he died obviously but that last line i just loved. I also loved Lester screaming for an abulance multiple times.
Yup there are way to many story lines left - i personaly do prefere Jenny/Nick to Claudia/Nick but i would be happy to either return. The show has lost so much with losing its central characters.

Chrazzey, you aren't the only one who didn't cry, believe me - I knew before that Nick was being killed off (one of many anticlimaxes this series due to it being shown all over the place before ITV!) and I really didn't like the way it was done, it left me fairly cold. I felt more angry about Nick's demise than sad - the character deserved so much better!
I am a huge Nick Cutter fan, and an even bigger Dougie Henshall fan - all due to watching Primeval. I felt that his should have been the best death of any character, being so central to the show, instead of which it was such an anticlimax! Mind you, I have to now say that Helen's was even worse!
All Stephen fans should be really glad that even though he's gone, he had the best ending of any character so far......

I didn't cry too because honestly I thought it was a joke...I thought he would return somehow in the end of the series because I thought they couldn't just leave it like this. I was more sad in episode 4 and 5 when you see how Jenny and Connor suffer because of their loss.

Definitely didn't cry either. Very sad that they killed off the character ofcourse but frankly the end felt unreal.
The whole idea of the clone has been introduced and this was such an obvious loophole that I felt as if it couldn't possibly be the end of Nick.
Can't say I agree that Jenny/Nick is better than Claudia/Nick though.
Jenny was too antagonistic to Nick at times. Nick even compares her to a velociraptor somewhere in series 2. Nick shows grudging admiration for her, but it just wasn't the same as the Claudia-Nick relationship. Claudia was strong but vunerable at the same time and Nick could play the Hero for her whereas with Jenny you felt as though she didn't really need Nick and she was therefore too much like Helen.
I think that Claudia was more of a contrast.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
Nevertheless I think it was good that they changed Claudia into Jenny. It gave series 2 a good twist. I always thought Nick was so blunt sometimes because he first thought Jenny would be exactly like Claudia, but then he found out that she was different in character, had a fiance etc. and although he tried he couldn't stop admiring her too. And that was what he hated and so his remarks where some kind of defensive attitude because he wanted to tell himself that he wasn't attracted to her (and I'm sure, Nick liked what he saw in the episode with the dress :D).

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
I've just re-watched 3.1 again, and it's so frustrating seeing Jenny and Nick just about to get together - and knowing there won't be any kind of resolution!
Couldn't they at least have been allowed a date and a kiss?? Knowing they were going to kill him off, it should have been the least the writers could do for us fans.......

I loved Jenny and Cutter together and their scenes and chemistry. We never got an ending to the story or any closure and that is one of the worst parts of it. I miss those to and their bantering in the show. Yes they should of done it for the fans.

Mew...yes agree. Loved Lucy's and Dougie's chemistry, loved when they shouted at each other in series 2 several times.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
Probably need to change this to "RIP all the original characters - gone but not forgotten".......
At least we'll always have S1, S2 and S3.....

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
It's sad really as if they had known this was going to have been the last season i am betting they could of convinced Dougie to stay just for the season or return just for an episode or two.... But then i supose some of the changes may not of happened and the show may of kept its higher ratings and who knows stayed on air? We will never no really if the show would have done better with him in it or would the story lines be just as bad? The costs still too high? As if it hadn't of been so badly writen and changed into so much action the costs would of been lower.
