Going to go at this one blind, starting to read the thread and got bored due to the ongoing ''he is the best'' ''no he isnt'' arguments.

Is it not true to say that, yes he will play a big role in the development of the new car but is it also not true to say that Heiki will also play the same role in the development of the new car ?

Is that not how every team does their development ? I could understand if Alonso was giving more input into the development of the Renault over Piquet Jnr.

At the end of the day they are 'Teams' and without eachother there would be no car at all !

Hope i havent repaeated anybody due to my laziness of not reading the thread but I just cant be bothered..Big Smile

hamilton did say that heikki would play the same role and that is not a speculation, it is in the article http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?id=46267

about alonso and pique is just your speculation. if alonso was so great in developing a car he would do it again this season. renaults development in 08 was a fluke. anyone who is good at anything will do it time and time again.

So what is your point with this thread an why did you not call it Lewis and Heiki will help design the next car ?

Piquet is virtually out and Alonso has a proven track record that he is excellent to work with when developing a car and that is not speculation, Renaults development in 2008 was not a fluke and that is also not speculation.

Yes we all know about Hamilton's pit lane problems . But has he ever crashed out of an F1 race on the track ? I don't think he has and that's quite impressive when you look at some of the epic battles he's had with some of the best drivers in the world .

but he was never involved in the design stages of mp4-24. now he is involved intimately with the initial stages of the designs and will be closely involved in all of the latter stages to ensure he is in a better position to compete. you will see the results in 2010 am sure. then you will be saying it is only the speed of car which is making him win not his driving skills.

Er...well why wasn't he?, can you imagine Michael Schumacher not being intimately involved in the creation of his championship defending car? We are all used to hearing about the love between McLaren and Hamilton but surely this is an example of McLaren not having the trust in his technical abilities during the design of this years car.  Of course he isn't designing the car, he is just now more involved in the process which, one would have thought, he should have been part of anyway.

    Wink

show me an article which states that michael schumacher was involved in the design of any of his f1 cars.

I don't need to, I know this to be the case, I have discussed this with Rory Byrne over dinner and he DID design a number of championship winning cars.
