Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
Keep checking out the Douglas Henshall website - best place for info about what our main man is up to, and when we can expect to see him on TV next!
Also some great pics from past and present......

Ironic really, Dougie left the show so it could be reinvented, instead it just got axed.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
True - but I personally felt when he left, the heart went out of it ....... (and the character of Danny was all wrong to replace him as leader....... )

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
samantha k.:Claudia, Capt Ryan. Stephen and now Nick. How much can we fans take!! What is the joke here? Are the writers building us up for something bigger? I am very confused over the whole thing. If this is a set up for something to come then they are either very smart writers in that we will all have a "ah I see why now" moment or they are very naive thinking we will stay interested if they wait too long to reveal it to us. Why have all those little teasers in S1 & S2 if they are not going to act on them. UGH!!
I know why there killing ppl off maybe in the final eva episode they go into an anomaly the they find out all of them are alive but i haz cutters dead.

Ladyhawke: littlerex:VERY big hole....if not a chasm.
Yep, littlerex, you said it so well...... its almost a Grand Canyon, in fact....... !!
its not a grand canyon its a chain of cuter shaped holes for all the eps without him im rly sad and i was more sad about dougie leaving than the dr losing rose in the last ep of series 2

Now we know there's an S4 and S5, maybe Dougie could be persuaded to come back, if only for a guest appearance? Along with Lucy? So many possibilities........

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
primeverse:So true! Thing is that Jenny never died, so it leaves it open for a return, maybe she gets concerned about their saftey or maybe Sarah's idea was to ring Jenny for back up? I loved Jenny and i want a Nick Cutter return! Right Now!
If Lucy Brown is available, they'd be mad not to bring Jenny back (or Claudia, or another sophisticated woman who just happens to be played by Lucy Brown...) She brought a bit of balance to the team - she's cool, calm, doesn't speak like a chav, and makes the team feel a bit more professional. I'm not holding out great hopes for Nick's return because I doubt if Dougie wants to. But I really hope they find a way to bring back the 'tone' of the Cutter years. They need to think about what Dougie as an actor brought to the cast and what the character brought to the story. As an actor, DH gave a strong, realistic performance, but he also anchored the ensemble so they worked well together. And as a character, Nick was intellectual heart of the show - the compassionate scientist who was very cautious about interfering with nature, the yang to Helen's yin. Like Helen, Nick saw the implications of the anomalies, but his philosophy on how to deal with them was the complete opposite. Primeval needs that philosophical heart.

Brilliant summing up of the character of Nick - love the idea of "Primeval - The Cutter Years"! (Don't think "The Danny Years" have much cred so far in comparison...... !)
If we can't have Dougie back (my heart still aches, but thinking of the future of the show...... ) then we need either a major change in Danny, or a new character with a scientific background, some kind of empathy with the creatures and an understanding of team motivation. Can't wait to see how S4 shapes up.......

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
Primeval has 'jumped the shark' more times than Lost !
It lost its way at least three times with plot lines that just stopped; characters that changed or dissapeared; artefacts or kit that somehow appears, and technology that works for no apparent reason.
Are the different writers pulling the show in different directions? Where is it going? Does anyone know?
If it was to stop at the end of series 3, it was a very unsatisfactory ending. But then thats the way for most shows now.
I suspect that Lost will go the same way with absolutely no explanation for anything!
Shakespear always gave the audience a proper ending. These days we are treated as fools.

Re: RIP Nick Cutter - gone, but not forgotten
Primeval S1 was great - witty, intelligent, interesting character interaction - and S2 still had plenty to recommend it (although the whole Leek/Helen menagerie thing was a little over the top, I agree!)
But S3...... well, lets just say it divided fans opinion big-style and leave it at that!
Now that most of the original cast have moved on (more's the pity) it will be fascinating to see if S4 can get back on track with a return to strong scripts and good acting. Tall order, I feel...... (and not just because I'm a major Dougie/Nick fan!)
