    English Comedians

Hi I'm new here - love a bit of goss about celebs - they are so strange don't you think? Well the whole celbrity worshipping culture is anyway.

What's your all time favourite English comedian? The English do comedy best I think! I'd have to go with Ricky Gervias in "Extras". I preferred that to "The Office". Too cringeworthy, I just couldn't watch it…oh yeah, I also love Eddie Izzard, actually, I think he's better than Gervais - his "Cats and Dogs" routine is hilarious!

Not a chance - Ricky Gervais! you auditioning to be a comedian yourself?

John Cleese is quite simply the greatest comic actor ever. Followed closely by most of the Monty Python team but then you have got Spike Milligan who was a genius, Tommy Cooper, Ronnie Barker, David Jason or Eric Morecambe - all these guys are legends and Ricky Gervais is not even in the same division, in fact he is not even playing the same sport as these guys.

As for stand up comics it is not an Englishman but a Scotsman that reigns supreme - Billy Connolly is the greatest stand up ever.
