    I've had a stylist - T and S style!!!

I have just had a style makover by the Stylistics, and I reckon T and S are better because they force you into clothes that you wouldn't usually wear.

What what would you rather? Trinny treatment, getting you to completely revamp, or a makeover where a stylist just takes what you already have and make it complete?

I agree with Trinny & Susannah about Britain taking the lazy way out and wearing black.  BLACK IS FOR FUNERALS AND IT IS NO WONDER THAT BRITAIN IS SO DEPRESSED.

I have had my colours done progressionally by a professional colour consultant (there are some quacks in this market) and, unlike what T & S thinik, there are four colour seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and these are broken down yet again into Deep, Light, Warm, Cool, Clear and Soft.  All the colours in your season compliment one another so you can get a lot of outfits by a few basic colours from your season.  I have chestnut brown hair and brown hazel eyes and am a Deep Autumn which means rusts, golds, browns, olive, reds and muted orange are some of my colours.  Deep Autumn used to be termed as Autumn Flowing into Winter, which meant that Autumn was your main colour but you also had some of Winter's colours as well.  My Winter colours are True Red, which is a bluer red than my Autumn Red which is a warmer colour, Emerald Green, True Blue.  The right colour puts colour into your face and makes you look radiant, the wrong colour drains your face of colour.  When I first had my colours done about 10 years ago, I had a lot of wrong colours in my wardrobe but, over the years, I have collected only my colours (there are 48 of them all together!) and now I can mix and match anything I want.  Only Deep Winters can wear black and white successfully; other tones wear off white, ivory, soft white or cream and some are better wearig blacking brown than black itself.

Winter colours are either all true like true green, true blue, true red or icy like icy green, icy pink, icy blue, mint.  Every season can wear most colours but it is the tone and hue that differ from season to season.

When you have your colours done, you are told what colours you can wear as a complete outfit and what colours need to be broken up and with what.  Sometimes colours that you would never think of trying together actually go together well.  One combination is lime green and bittersweet red.

You can also have your body style done where you learn what sort of clothes suit your figure.

If you see someone walking down the street and envy her her confidence, take time to think whether it is because she is wearing colours that suit her and not just boring black because it is easier to do.

Please say where you had you colour consultation done! I find it impossible to put myself into a single bracket as i am a real combination both in body shape and colour! A recommendation of where to go would be so helpful. Thank you.

    Hi Lynneth

The key thing that separates a good stylist from the rest is how they work with you.  I can put you in the perfect outfit, the right colours and the right shape etc but if it's outside your comfort zone it won't work!   This is why when you see the 'revisited' programmes more often than not they have reverted to where they feel most comfortable.

We can push you in the right direction but it still has to work with you..   I'm what we call a Dramatic (probably very like Trinny) but I can't make you a Dramatic unless that's where you want to be and that's why the quesionnaire works!  If I'm working with a Natural, they would go mad at me if I put too much fuss and fiddly bits on an outfit but our Romantics would love all that!

    Re: I've had a stylist - T and S style!!!

I had a colour consultation and the lady showed me colours that she said suited me and they didn't include about 3 colours that I wear a lot.  So I asked "What about these three I wear a lot?"  And she put them against my face and said "Oh yeah they do suit you aswell you can wear those too".  SO maybe try colours against your face yourself or get a good friend/relative to help you, after all your friends and family want you to look good if they love you!!  It can be hard to be confident in yourself but I do feel some of these programmes make us worry far more about ourselves than we already do!!  Try and listen to your instincts and experiment - you may be mostly right and just need to try slightly different tones.  And do remember that the biggest thing is shape - I wear a lot of black (I'm such a terrible person aren't I?!!!) and people still give me compliments on my clothes and "look" and generally think I am up to 2 sizes smaller than I actually am...despite it being a heavy depressing colour haha.  It can just be about how clothes fit you.

    Re: I've had a stylist - T and S style!!!

For all you lovely ladies out there 'confused about colour' and just generally sick of not knowing which styles suit you or your bodyshape, I am founder of a Style Advice service 'Style Our Souls'.

We've all included regular visits to the hairdresser's, even beauticians into our routines and daily lives, so why not turn to a professional for some guidance when it comes to putting your wardrobe together?

It is all about dressing for your bodyshape, not your size and your personality, not just the latest trend (although fashion is fun, so we show you how to bring that in too if that's what you want!)

Trinny and Susannah offer one angle, i.e. they are extreme, but don't forget it makes good tv viewing!  At 'Style Our Souls' we offer honest, impartial advice but it should be a fun, positive experience and every session is tailored to the individual, one size does not fit all!!

So if you've seen the recent colour show T&S ran or you just want to finally banish those style dilemmas once and for all, drop me a line!
