X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

Was it necessary to use a couple of helicopters and several limousines to transport the judges in these fuel-conscious times, when two tandems would have sufficed? Judges who mostly have minimal singing talent should not shamefully hoot with laughter at contestants trying their best - but they do.

Cowell and Minogue telling the ex-Popstars lad he's too old for a boyband and should give up his showbiz  dream. He's only 24 and there are lots of other managers, A&R men, who perhaps could nurture that talent and maybe he could be a star.

The ex-hoodlum Rachel. Choosing an Amy Winehouse song,It was odd seeing a black woman singing like a white woman pretending to be a black woman.  The Welsh girl who was doing something good for Bridgend (yes, but why drag this sad matter of the suicides into a singing competion?), she had a good voice, but her version of Fields Of Gold didn't sound anything like Sting.

I don't like X Factor. It ridicules and humilates the contestants and, in a way, it's ridiculing and humilating the TV audience for watching such rubbish., but still they (we?) watch. I shall try my best to avoid doing so, this season.

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

Me & my friends encouraged our friend to go along to the x factor auditions this year and it was an absolute farce, it isnt at all as you see it on tv. we were made to stand outside queing in the freezing cold for 5hrs then we were made to do all the filming for the beginning of the show, this itself was absolutley ridiculous, we had to stand and pretend we werent cold and miserable and had to scream and shout and show  'happyfaces'! we had to keep doing all this filming for a good couple of hours before they were happy with us & our reactions to the 'flex the x'

After 5 hours of standing up queing in the freezing cold we then had something to look forward to(or so we thought) going inside. there was no organisation what so ever, they simply sent us inside the football ground to sit down for a further 5hours in the freezing cold which was even worse we actually felt at deaths door! by this time my friend could barely talk without shivering like hell let alone belt out a tune. the auditionees were expected to sit and do nothing until told to. Even the xfactor guides and officials didnt have a clue what or how to arrange the thousands of people sitting and waiting. Eventually after more filming and lots of arguing from many of the auditionees the officials did people start auditioning.

My friend (as all would say about their friends who tried out)is amazing and didnt get through she couldnt even get her words out as she was so cold, she had to sing behind a partition by the side of the football pitch infront of a nobody to get thier opinion on wether or not she was entertaining or not. clearly you have to be a complete loon or wear fancy dress to get through these auditions you dont need to bother wether your a good singer or not. I saw many people turned away being told "sorry i think the colds got to you"! YOU THINK!!!!

All i can say is all is not how it seems and however good you are try something else as it is a farce.

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

It's not just the X-Factor - most programs with live audiences etc. are very similar. You are supposed to laugh LOUD at jokes which aren't in the least funny, applaud comments with which you don't agree, cheer wannabee celebrities you've never heard of, help greet politicians from parties you don't support and smile and look happy-happy when the cameras pan the audience.

Sorry to hear about your day out in the cold. So how did you actually get on in the auditions?

Apart from that, I like the new presenter Heather much better than that Fern woman, whom I found common, ignorant and false. I also like the new judge Cheryl and wish both the new girls luck.

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

I agree that X factor has gone downhill terribly.

I enjoy the first half a dozen episodes coz
it's hilarious watching how crap folk are and
how good they THINK they are... But then it
gets a bit tedious. Last year's dragged on
terribly and this years looks set to do the
same. Coz it's FOUR MONTHS LONG. Also, the
sob stories do my head in. I couldn't give a
stuff about peoples' personal problems and
private issues. I have plenty of my own
problems... I just wanna know if they can
    sing and perform!

And as for Leon from last year; let's face it, he was the
most crap winner ever! He can't sing and he
has absolutely NO charisma whatsover, and
certainly no 'X-Factor...' IMO, he did not
deserve to win at all... So that is probably
why we have heard nothing from him... Coz
    no-one is interested in him!

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

I alos think that it's a disgrace that that girl got who has loads of kids by different men and has been into drugs and into crime and everything (the one who did the amy winehouse song;) has used all her life's 'issues' to wing her way into the top 24.  I am SICK of sob stories, and this particular girl has brought everything on herself!  Are we supposed to feel sorry for her?  Coz *I* don't!  I have my own problems in life, and they aren't self-inflicted like hers are...

    confusedwhyamihere?:

Using a helicopter would probably use less fuel in the long run as although they use more fuel per second they are faster than a car and can go in up in to the air, move along in a stright line and then land.  Where as with driving you would have to stay on the road and go arround fields and buildings, stop at traffic lights and be stuck behind a learner driver or OAP who likes to drive slowly

The problem with TV now is that people incharge of the companies actuly belive that viewers would watch digital channels such as DAX +1.5 seconds (or what ever time shift they are doing now), TV wherehouse2, BBC3 or the more entertaining 24 hour test card on open access 3 over the main 5 (BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, channel 4 and five).

So instead of telling TV channel comissioners to comission programmes they think are good they tell them to comission programmes they think the viewers want and what happens is a comissioner thinks that a group of people will like a programme where really they dont or they comission simular programmes.  As the programmes are not what viewers want they then go to other channels.

If not they get the wrong end of the stick, like when ITV play swaped Quizmania and The Mint for Make your play and glitterball.  Not as many people wanted to play the same game over and over again like the new programmes did so people stopped playing along, then ITV assumed no one wanted to play the games because other programmes were scamming callers.

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

I totally agree with you about Rachel, her "issues" have everything to do with why she got through in the first place!  Lets face it, it help's if you have a sob story, then more people will vote for them!  Also i don't like her attitude, i feel that she has too full of herself! She does my head in! Angry

Speaking of which, Ruth also does my head in, i'm so over the spanish thing! We're only going into week 3 and its been done to death!Super Angry!

I think that Cheryl has a great chance of winning this year, her group is so strong and she supports them 100%.  She knows exactly what they're going through having gone through it herself!Yes

    Cheryl to win!!!!!!

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

One thing I don't like about X factor is that the audience's reaction is so fake:

    • Some one hits a high part of a song - the audience scream
    • A judge says someone was good - the audience cheer followed by the judge speaking louder and saying something the complete opposite to what they previously said
    • A Judge says someone was bad -  the audience boo followed by the judge speaking louder and saying something the complete opposite to what they previously said

I am not surprised that the audience dont vote, all the votes would be undecided because they dont seem to have a favorite, they cheer for all of the contestants and boo at what ever bad things the judges say about someone

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

l think the `sob story` fuss as become a cliche now, there are the odd ones that have got through and stayed in on character more than talent, most done, and Rachel definetly got through because she`s a great voice, which was there from her first audition.  Okay she`s a history and attitude, but isnt everyone saying they should be there on talent, not character and history.  Every one of the judges will know she is the most talented and origonal this series, if not the all the other series, Simon def knows it, and l think he will sign her up win or lose, he`s certainly signed acts who dont have ten per cent of her talent at singing and performing.  But it will be a shame if she goes out because the voters have a narrow mind due to her history, as they will miss some great performances from her.  But do think the new judge will be marked down for winning, as the new judge was last year, and with the acts cheryl got she was onto a winner from the start, plus danni`s not the flavour of the month now with either voters or panel, still hope Rachel wins it, due to her talent

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

i am so annoyed after watching the results show there is no way that scott should of gone home he was the better singer on the night. i think daniel seems like a really nice guy but it was going to be emotional if he sings a song to his wife i was nearly sitting there in tears but it is a talent show not a sympathy show and i'm afraid he should of gone home there was no chance for scott against that and i think the judges made the worst decision tonight. it is a singing performing show but it seems to be all wrong i'm getting really annoyed watching it at the moment its getting tiresome now they need to remember what it is there looking for and i'm surprised at louis choosing daniel because i dont think he liked him that much i think it's such ashame for scott because he was good and i enjoyed watching him grow and he is alot better than others on the show they should of put it to the public vote as they have done the last to weeks i really am raging! not impressed!

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

Well, ive got to say i am disgusted at tonights going on. yes daniels story is so sad, but hes used it to get on show and then to stop himself being booted off, which clearly he would of been had he not ''cried'' and used his sob story to get at the judges.

That poor young lad Scott starting out was so wrongly kicked off and i hope the judges, and that Daniel is thoroughly ashamed to allow sympathy to over rule the talent.

Shame on them all scott should NOT have gone!!!!

Re: X Factor: Wrong On So Many Levels

I think next week a certain artist sould sing maybe 1 of 2 songs what do u all think CRY ME A RIVER, OR DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART. Don't get me wrong i love all the singers this year apart from 1 who is still in the comp. One of the judges didn't seam to me to surport his other two bands as much as the last one he has in. He always stands for His last band but never stood up for his other two band. Someone need a back bone and to judge them on talent not how they make u feel when they sing aaaaaarrrgggggggggggg
