Hello all

 I am new to the thread infact I have never joined an internet forum before.  However I want to express my disappointment with the standard of Emmerdale in recent months.  I have watched the programme since I was a child (am in my 30s) and I would consider it to be my favourite show.  In reent months I think the standard of the scripts/storylines have detoriated considerably now it makes uncomforatbale viewing.  Does the director/producer actaully watch the shows before they are aired?? Either there benchmark for standards is so low or the answer is that they don't.

I also disagree with the characters that have been axed and some that remain (Lexi, Ross, Debbie) - even the introduction of Gensis and Anna has failed to inspire interest.

Apparently we are going to get a nother murder !!!  A glamourous family and a cassanova farmer - wow none of that has been done before on Emmerdale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have decided after the conclusion of the Grayson/Katie stroyline to stop watching  for a while as have others if the recent decline in ratings is anything to go by

This is not Emmerdale at the moment - it is tribe - the viewers are not morons so stop treating us like we are

I stopped watching when the writers decided to split Matthew/Perdy up. There was a six month build up to that only for them to wrongly assume viewers didn't like it and waste Georgia Slowe by sticking her on the back bench from March until July. A total insult to the actress.

Is it a coincidence that 11 cast members have either been axed or quit since January?

I completely agree. I have been particularly disappointed with the departure of Perdy and the imminent departure of Matthew, both of whom had huge potential. I cannot understand why they keep trying to bring in new characters, when it would be far better to concentrate on the good characters they already have.

Im not fussed at all that Grayson has gone (is going) because I feel he was written into a corner, but Matt/Perdy had a lot of potential and had they have continued down that road of devloping their relationship, i don't think either actor would have quit.  

Watching Grayson and Matthew last Tuesdy highlighted for me - how good they were as rivals - as a viewer I was genuinely interested in the outcome.  Alongside this we had the Villiage show which again reinforced the poor characters who remain in the show.  Quite ironic really.  Well I have stopped watching though my mother-in-law announced after the STI that she too had had enough - according to her the stroy was depicted as childish and spiteful - so that is two loyal viwers jumping ship :)
