As far as I know, but I may possibly be wrong, you have to fill out and send in the audition form which you can find online and then you are informed and are told when and where the audition for your area will take place.

(There was some information about this on the old X-Factor forum last year)

Maybe someone who has auditioned can reply here.

Alternatively, if you wait for the end of the current series the show gives directions to a link on the web and you can download it there. My nephew applied for this years series online so that will be an option also.

If I was you I wouldn't bother it doesn't matter hoe good you are they use you like piece of meat build your hopes up and then crush you.My son entered this year he got 4 yes' they said they loved him and made so much of him he got to boot camp and although he is my son I can tell you he has a fab voice. We had just got our heads round the fact that it was the last week of auditions and he wasn't going to be on then they rang Fri to say he was on sat show and what did they show about two seconds of him coming out of the audition room after he got his 4 yes no singing nothing. So beware we were naive you leave yourself open to being manipulated and humiliated if you enter x factor

I understand your disappointment regarding your son,but this is the way it is.Show business is simply that ,a business and nothing more.I dont think ITV or the judges set out to deliberately treat anyone with distain,if anything they are doing you a favour by being true to the business and showing you exactally how it is.Sometimes it works in your favour but most of the time it doesnt. It is a great business, but ,you must go in with your eyes open and your feelings safely guarded.Whether its X Factor or any other form of the entertainment industry, you will be treated exactally the same. When you're on top they lavish you with attention and all things good and when you're not ...well...thats show biz. You've got to roll with the punches and remember, to quoate a line from the Godfather,'it aint personal, its business'.I wish you and your son all thats good in this life.
