    US Elections

I do not care about the elections of a foreign country, it has nothing to with us! I recently contracted the bbc about this subject and the reply went on about the elections being important, as the US, was the remaining super power. What i say to this is, only if other countries, listened.

Know was to happen if we elected a government that had some backbone and kept the US government at arms length.

The way i see it, it created the war in Iraq (and Afganistan) for its own ends. Only because a few thousand people died on the 7th September. Do you honestly think, America would throw it milatary weight if something like that happened here, i doubt it. America has been attacked - shock horror!!, maybe what i am questioning here is this whole idea of the so called 'Special Relationship', which it uses to its own ends. What do we get in return?

I wish we had a party and a leader that will tell the American President to take a run and jump.

feel free to respond - i could go on forever.

    Re: US Elections

You are being completely naieve if you believe that the US elections have nothing to do with us.

Regardless of the "special relationship" anything that happens there has a ripple effect around the globe and because we are in Europe it is felt here first.

Cut interest rates in US? then it follows we will cut them. Inflation runs out of control in US - then watch out. sub prime lending confidence falls in US, loans are defaulted - hey guess what the world gets hit by a "credit crunch" and we go into recession! - can it be any more connected?

Who america chooses to lead them has a profound effect on their foreign policy ergo how they treat others including us. We may not like it but the US is the only superpower but they will not be that forever - China, India and Russia will emerge as the future power brokers - then we may wish for the days when the good old US of A ran the show.

BTW it was September 11th not the 7th (that was July and in London) you are getting your atrocities mixed up.
