I don't know about relegating him - it's too late now, but I think a lot more people would have respected him if he had to work his way up like the guys you mention, and a WDC in those circumstances would be appreciated by many more people.  No doubt this will be taken as another LH bashing post but it's not intended as one - just a reflection on things as they are now.

LH's best chance of winning a title was in 2007. He had the fastest car all year, the McLaren was voted Car of the Year remember, hence proclaiming it the best car of 2007. Its a shame LH didn't take advantage of that opportunity because in all honesty those chances don't come along that often.

LH's best chance at becoming WDC may already be behind him.

LH best chance of a WDC, would have been if the FIA provided a less politically corrupt platform for McLaren and Hamilton to race on... there is no other reason for them not winning in 2007... Kimi was honourd by the FIA and nothing more...

Lewis best chance of winning the WDC was to score 3 points in China. You should not mix slippery tyres and a gravel trap with off track politics. The gravel trap was not a political installation and I doubt that at that moment was distracted by politics. Hamilton bottled it all by himself.

Don't joke, I pray every race that his wheels will fall off.

Re: Does anyone hope LH never wins a title!??

He clearly has the speed to win a title and therefore it is only a matter of time if he can put a complete A game on the paddock for 19 weeks. he had that title last year and between him and his mentor they blew it. From a Mclaren fan's point of view it got sick in the end and i had some strange perverse feeling of happiness for Kimi when he won his title. RD's inability to hold that team together after introducing his protege may well cost Lewis his chance for the next wee while?

Never mind the 'protege'  not winning the title, surely it cost Alonso the title also and to have a triple world champion in the team would have carried more prestige than ever,  but LH could no see that and ruined it for everyone.  Its a pity McL don't put the same emphasis on teamspirit that other teams appear to

Re: Does anyone hope LH never wins a title!??

I would not go as far as to say never. Perhaps not this year. I think a little self control and humility for him will take him far. He has talent to fight for the championship crown and possibly win it.

People say just because he was given a seat in McLaren that he did well. But i think, McLaren chose him because he is that good. They could have chosen other drivers! However, I must admit that i do not know the internal politics of McLaren.

Nonetheless, You will see LH as WD champion, probably not this year but soon.

    Its Kimi's year!!!

Thats a bit harsh!! Luke212004. Titles are sweeter when fought hard for! .Not when your competitor is taken out.

Although granted it does make life a little easier

Think thats a bit harsh to be honest on Hamilton.

I love the guy to bits, and when he says these "big headed" comments that you include on, why would you put yourself down over something? There's no point. In formula one you have to have confidence, so why you digging at him specifically for it?

    And cost Alonso the title?

I think Alonso cost himself the title mate when he threw it into the Fuji wall.

    I can't believe this post from Jax70.

Lewis RUINED it for everyone - and McLaren don't put the same emphasis on team spirit?

I seriously can't believe you're trying to defend Alonso with these points!  Have you forgotten what Fernando Alonso did to his team last year?  If you want to blame ruining the season and not having team spririt, surely he's the number 1 culprit.

As far as winning the WDC goes, I'm thrilled he didn't.  I like my champions to be deserving of their title. Fernando is a good driver - I can't dispute that.  But he's not a good sportsman, and he certainly isn't a team player.

hi, i had to re ignite this debate to see if peoples views have changed now that we have seen 7 races of this season. hamiltons arrogance increases by the day, yet if anything, his driving seems to get worse. like father like son eh....in the same week his dad crashes a carrera gt, lewis crashes his f1 car.lol. his dad was probably making screeching car noises pretending to be lewis. well that backfired didnt it andrew: and the whole white shirt, black jacket combo really irritates me....is he trying to look like harry hill?lol
