''Fine, if thats the way you want it.'' Liam said and stormed out of the factory.

Carla sat back down at her desk, great thats all she needed at the moment, Liam mad at her. Why couldn't her live be simple. What had she done to deserve all this. She rubbed her head, great she was getting a headache. Carla rooted around in her bag and found some tablets, and when to get a glass of water.

Liam had gone to the salon to find Maria. ''Hi,'' He said, 

''What you doing here?'' Maria asked him

''I came to see if you fancy going for lunch later.'' He said.

Maria smiled blissfully. "Oh go on love, you get your lunch now it's 11:30 anyway and well I'm not busy. No doubt you need to feed that little one anyway." Audrey said as she gazed at Maria's rounded stomach. Maria smiled happily as Liam drummed his hand against the wall waiting for her to get her coat.

Carla looked up with a smile thinking it was Liam coming back and sighed slightly as Tony walked in with a large bouquet of Roses. How were flowers going to make everything okay again? "Hey princess, look I'm sorry for what happened before. I ju....just get angry sometimes. I don't mean to." Tony said as he leaned over and gently kissed her cool temple. "Do you want to get lunch?" He asked as Carla shook her head softly. "Nah I best stay, I'm not feeling too great anyway." She said as Tony nodded.

"I kind of expected that."

"No it's nothing to do with you I just don't feel hungry." Carla said eager to make sure he knew she wasn't saying no because of what happened. Though in fairness she thought it might be hard to make pleasentries with him at the moment.

Liam and Maria walked out of the salon, ''So where do you want do go for lunch?'' Liam asked.

Maria thought for a moment, ''Do you mind if we go home?'' She asked.

''Of course not.'' He said ''You feeling alright.''

''Yes, just tired.'' she replied.

They walked hand in hand across the road, and went in their house. Maria was glad to have some alone time with Liam, lately where ever they went Carla turned up. She was tired, and feeling fat at the moment but at least Liam was been attentive, even it was stuff about the baby.

   Carla sighed as she rubbed her bruised arm. After a while of thinking to herself she finally got up from her seat and picked up her bag and coat before walking into the main factory work place. "Right guys, you can go home early." She said as the girls looked at her strangely. "You'll be paid of course.." She sighed as the girls and Sean raised from their seats and made their way out the work place. Then she grabbed her keys and headed for the door before locking up and sending Liam a message saying he can have the rest of the day off and making her was to her car. She didn't really wantto go home so she decided to go to a little place she used to like...

Carla sat by the canal on a bench staring blankly ahead. The water trickled softly in ront of her and there were people walking their dogs and mum's pushing buggies. She used to spend loads of time here when she was younger, just watching enviously at families together, wishing that man walking the dog was her dad and the young woman playing peek-a-boo was her mother. Not the people she had at her hovel of a home. She smiled softly as a football rested by her foot and she reached down to pick it up and hand it to the little boy who had kicked it over. "There you go." She smiled and the little boy grinned. "Thank you." He replied as he took the ball and headed back to his dad and sister. Carla chewed her lip remembering her childish wishes when she'd married Paul, all she'd wanted was a little family but they never had time, Paul always said to wait until he got another new car or until after the next holiday abroad and well they never got round to their family. She wandered if they had have had a baby whether he'd have turned to what he did. Perhaps a baby would have made him faithful to her?

Liam looked at his phone oddly. "What's wrong?" Maria asked as she nibbled on a piece of toast. Liam shrugged. "Carla just left me a message telling me to take the rest of the day off."

"Maybe she thinks you're working too hard, I wouldn't complain Liam, the ice queen might change her mind." Maria smirked as Liam shook his head. 

"I'm worried about her."  

''Liam.....Why does everything always come back to her for.'' Maria said. ''Why cant you just forget about her for once.''

''Maria, I'm sorry, I'm just worried. Carla has been acting strangely lately.'' He said

''Liam, she not your problem. Why is she so important to you,  lets just enjoy some time together.'' Maria said

''Carla's my partner and friend Maria you know that.'' Liam replied.

''But Liaaaaaam, I'm fed up with hearing about Carla this and Carla that.'' Maria said.

 

   Liam sighed. "Sorry... I'm just worried." He said as he scooped up another forkfull of his spaghetti. "Ye well you should be worried for me, I am carrying your child you know." She pointed out as Liam rolled his eyes. "Don't roll your eyes at me! Liam I've been up every morning throwing my guts up, but did you ever come and see if I was ok? No! I've been going to scans on my own Liam!" She said, her eyes brimming with small salty tears. "Hey, I'm sorry ok. I've just been busy lately." He said honestly as Maria frowned. "Liam I..I just want you to be there.... I love you.." She said as a soft tear rolled down her cheek, smeering her make-up. Liam genuinly felt sorry for her. He felt horrible. She was carrying his baby and he'd been too busy in Carla's life than hers, than his. He moved his hands across the table and took hold of Maria's before giving it a soft squeeze. "I'm sorry Maria... I promise this next scan coming up I wont miss it." He said as Maria sniffed up and wiped her teary eyes.

After the scan, Liam and Maria returned to the house, Liam's mind elsewhere. He was still worried about Carla. "Are you excited for the baby coming Liam?" Maria asked sensing his mind was on something else. "Yeah of course" He replied. "I'm just going to work okay, see you when I get back" he kissed Maria's cheek and walked out.

Liam walked into the factory, hoping Carla was in but she wasnt. He sat down at his desk and was starting to get really worried so he tried to phone Carla but it kept ringing out. "Come on Carla, pick up!" he said out loud. It went to voicemail so he left a message. "Carla, where are you? Im at the factory and Im really worried about you, hope you're okay. Please ring me back, okay?"

An hour or so later, Carla sauntered into the factory, pretty nervous. "So you've decided to turn up then?" Liam asked, trying to hide his concern. "Looks that way" she replied sarcastically. "Where did you go?" Liam asked. "Why is it any of your business?" she retorted. "Why are you being such a cow?" "Me? Oh my god Liam you really have no idea" "Well tell me then!!! Is this about Tony?" Liam asked, trying to figure it out. "Not everything is about flippin Tony! Just leave me alone" "It's cos he hit you isnt it?" Carla, by this point was about to flip, she really didnt need this right now. "You Liam, havent got a clue, Tony hit me yeah, once but it was just once. Now will you just leave me alone!!!" Carla shouted, her temper showing. "Then why have you got bruises all over you?" Liam said regretting what he'd just said as he sensed Carla was about to explode. "What?" She was so nervous by this point, how did he know? "Do you think I'm stupid? I've watched you, carrying boxes up the stairs, you can hardly manage cos you're in so much pain. One bruise on your wrist isnt going to have that effect now is it?" "You dont know what you're talking about" Carla shouted, avoiding eye contact with Liam cos she knew he was right. "Oh really?" He stood up from his desk and walked over to Carla and slowly pulled her top up. Carla had no energy left to fight Liam, he knew it was true anyway. "If he only hit you once then why have you got bruises everywhere?" Liam asked, revealing her bruises as she winced.

   Carla looked down ashamed of herself. "Carr.. why are you letting him do this to you?" Liam asked confused to why Carla had let Tony go on this far. "Because.. because I'm week a..and stupid a..and-" "Carla no you're not!" Liam said before sighing. "Carla, look at me." He said, Carla slowely looked up, the black mascara visable on her tear stained cheeks. "You can't keep letting him hurt you like this. God, if..if it would have been a boy when you where in school he would've lost his front teeth by now." He stated as another tear rolled down Carla's cheek.

"Carla, why have you let him get away with this? Look at you." Liam said softly as he shook his head at Carla's bruised shoulders, black and blue marks blemishing her skin. "He loves me, he....he doesn't me....mean to." Carla said hating herself for seeming so weak in Liam's eyes.

"Carla don't be daft, how can you believe that, you don't do you." Liam said terrified for a moment of what Carla in her current state had allowed her highly-strung boyfriend to do. Tony had a temper when he wanted and could be very volitile at times. "Liam he's got a temper that's all."

"A temper, Carla come on. You need to report him."

   Carla looked up and shook her head. "No." She stated, partly because she was afraid of what Tony would do to her if he found out and because she was trying to kid herself that he wouldn't always be like that, he was a good man...

   "Carla please.. I..I can't see you getting hurt. I..I love you Carla." He stated as Carla sighed. "Liam we've been through all this before, no you don't. You've got Maria and-" "My baby, ye I know. And I'm as confused as you are as to why I do, but Carla, I love you. I can't watch you get hurt by that monster." He said, tears welling in the brim of his deep blue eyes.

"I won't get hurt. But you have to stop saying things like this. It only serves to make him act worse. I'm fine." Carla protested as her eyes brimmed with tears though she promised herself not to cry, to show her feelings. "Hasn't he hurt you enough already!" Liam spat angrily. Carla bit her lip trying not to allow her strong resolve to shatter. "He got angry, he's got a temper. It's no worse than what Paul was like." Carla said in the heat of the moment as Liam glowered at his feisty sister-in-law. 

"Paul might hav had a temper but he never laid a finger on you. I know because you had a bit more fight then, you'd have been out of that door the first time he hurt you. He threw things I guess, his tempers like mine but he wouldn't hurt you, couldn't hurt you no doubt even if he wanted to."

"No breaking hearts is more his thing." Carla said as she rubbed her aching shoulder.  

   Liam frowned angrilly at her stuborness. "Carla please... Can you not just tell someone?" He asked as Carla sighed. "I told you! And look what's happened. Look, Liam just go home ye... I'm a big girl,  can look after myself." "So you keep saying Carla!" Liam shouted back. "Liam get out!" Carla yelled, Liam looked at her for a moment before shaking his head "You deserve everything you get!" He said through gritted teeth before walking out leaving Carla hut and fristrated.

 

a few hours later...

 

   "I'm home sweetheart." Tony smiled as he walked over to where Carla was sat on the sofa. "You ok darlin'?" Tony asked as Carla nodded. "Ye.. you want some tea?" Carla asked as she got up form the sofa and walked into the kitchen.

 

I thought maybe we could have Tony really hurting Carla. Like maybe he beats her up until she's that bad she has to go to hospital?
