During the show ,when announcing the results he said the `The next two skating next week is`, when he should have said `The next two skating next week are`. Just a little thing but I hope you can change it for next weeks show.

It is an ice show, you have to expect the odd slip up, now and then.

Ah BUT he was probably referring to the two skaters as a couple so maybe he should have said "The next COUPLE through to next weeks show IS....."

Or am I thinking about this just far too much?

That's been annoying me since last years show.
I do English Language at A-Level and i'm getting fed up now when he says 'is' instead of 'are'

i agree with you about always saying is instead of are but something that is annoying me more is that colin keeps getting through and jessica or zoe is going to have to go whn they are so much better! If i were Colin i would pull out now before she recks someone elses dreams. i hope she understnds me that im not being mean but clearly stating the truth.

Check your spelling before you post things come on. Coleen is a girl not a guy. It just shoots you squarely in the foot. Try copying your post over to word or something and check it before you post. CTRL C and CTRL V.

Philip usually says, "The next couple skating next week is..." A couple is singular, therefore 'is' is correct. If he did refer to 'the next two', then that's plural and 'are' would be correct.

Yes it is 'just a little thing' and not worth complaining about.

At last someone agrees with me !!!!  He was sayingn 'is' instead of 'are' all last series !!!!!
