As my screen name alleges I am an old retired referee and I am concerned that, despite the F.A. stating that we have lost 20,000 referees this year mainly due to dissent, or worse, your broadcasters appear to believe that it is open house on criticism of the team with the whistle and the flags.
You transmit to a very wide audience and experience has taught me that whatever is heard or seen on television there are those, at grass roots level, who believe they can emulate what the commentry team has stated.
Once a referee leaves the game they very seldom return and who knows to what levels they could have risen had they been given the correct opportunity.
I would appreciate a "toning down" of this type of commentry as all it is showing is total dissent of those officiating in matches.
Comments would be appreciated
