    STV programmes cancellations

I live in the Scottish Television area, and i am totally disgusted that we are gradually losing all of our itv favourite shows, only to be replaced with scottish factual series, discussions and films.

I have e mailed them regarding this, but they are just not interested.we did not get Benidorm special,Lewis,Kingdom, and now to cap it all we are losing the Bill(a programme that has been on our screens for over twenty years.

I myself, and many others are not interested in this Tartan Trash, and would much rather get the same programmes as ITV. Not all of us can receive sky television either.

I got a useless e mail telling me that i can look forward to Scottish diverse programming, etc etc.

Well newsflash STV,I don't WANT diverse Scottish programming, and neither do a lot of us.

We are not all Haggis eating, tartan wearing idiots who live for Scotland.

We pay our television licenses like every other UK citizen, and i resent this disgraceful treatment and blatant anti-English programming.

I have installed ITV player on my computer, but not everyone can do this.

Can we not sign up to a petition or at least do SOMETHING to register our extreme anger at the so called schedulers.

I have now boycotted STV for everything including news, with the only exception being the soaps (although for how much longer we will get them is anyones guess.) Angry

    Re: STV programmes cancellations

I find it hard to believe STV think it's a good idea to replace long running, much loved prime-time programmes with local drivel. It sounds like luncay to me!  I don't like to watch TV programmes on a computer, thats why i own a TV and I'm not interested in shortbread tin telly.  There are digital TV channels dedicated to this heather hugging nonsense where all the loonies can get together to celebrate Tartan Trash.  Meanwhile can us grown-ups have our mainstream programmes back.

If there is a petition I will be tripping over myself to sign it.  The only other way i can think of protesting is to hit them where it hurts: ratings.  If we don't watch this rubbish they wont make any money from advertising therefore will maybe re-think their schedules.

    Quite simple...

Either STV should show the national ITV1 schedule with local programmes dotted in like they used to... or let viewers choose between ITV1 and STV as separate channels.

Best thing for fans to do. Watch ITV1 London in Scotland on Sky 993 or Virgin 853.

    Re: STV programmes cancellations

Freesat has been broadcasting ITV1 London on Channel 977 for sometime alongside STV given that company's refusal to show ITV HD and allowing central and north Scotland viewers to access the HD service. Alternatively you can enter a local postcode pertinient to the ITV region you wish to view in your freesat box or tv. ITV1 Border is the obvious choice and south Scotland viewers already have ITV1 through Freeview

    Re: STV programmes cancellations

Hi.It.s me again with an update on my recent posting on this forum. There is a website called gopetition.co.uk where every disgruntled STV viewer can sign a petition online to  reinstate The Bill.

It was started by a Mr McKeown, but so far there are only 5 signatures on it.I signed it last night, but WE NEED MORE so come on please help to show STV that we are not happy people.

You can also vote to save The Royal as well. Angry

    Re: STV programmes cancellations

I too emailed stv about this and got the same reply as you. I have watched the Bill since it started way back in 1983, missing only a few episodes in all that time. I am disgusted with STV. If it wasn't for the soaps, Taggart and Dexter, I would boycott this Channel. They seem to find the money to send z list celebs to the Jungle, but none to give scottish viewers the programs they want.

    Re: STV programmes cancellations

STV is a bit of a farce these days, they wont show any new programmes or if they are they are usually rubbish. I am just glad I have a sky box that allows me to watch decent itv1 programmes like lewis and kingdom to name a few.

    Re: STV programmes cancellations

As a company with a channel 3 licence STV can choose to show programmes from other ITV1 regions so it is up to them if they want to show the programmes or not.  STV unlike ITV1 has lost a large percentage of it's income, ITV's losses were only a small percentage but STV and UTV have lost around 25% lately.  STV are showing local programmes because it would also attract local advertisers where as with ITV1 they have national programmes to attract national and international advertisers.

You could try complaining to ofcom.
