    Benidorm

I watched this for the first time last night, to see if I was missing anything.

I am not. What a total load of mince, Jonny Vegas is wasting his considerable talents on this nonsense.

    Re: Benidorm

I agreed with all that you said up until 'considerable talents'. Jonny Vegas never had any talent to begin with in my opinion. And Benidorm is a truly awful sitcom, appealing to the lowest of lowest common denominators. It's about time ITV produced some good comedy to ease the burden on poor old Harry Hill.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you there. Jonny Vegas is one of lifes naturally comedically talented people. Harry Hill however is IMO a pathetic characture of a person, why does he persist in still wearing that stupid enormous collar after what must be at least 10 years in the game. It may have helped to get him noticed but surely to God he could ditch it now.

Maybe the irony of Benidorm is lost on some poeople?

I guess I just prefer a little sophistication in my comedy. Jonny Vegas and Benidorm are the complete opposite of everything good in comedy. IMO it is obvious gag after obvious gag. Now I'm by no means championing Harry Hill's cause, yes he makes me laugh, but as far as ITV goes, there's not really many options available. Harry Hill does more for me than Jonny Vegas. Naturally comically talented? I'm not so sure. He's just a fat guy with a silly voice to me, it makes him stand out, but doesn't make his gags funny.

    Re: Benidorm

The first series was excellent, really funny but instead of leaving it at that they commissioned more, the second series and the spin off was total pants, crass and not funny.  I hope the third series improves but judging by the trailers it seems not.
