    Taste the Nation

I have been watching this programme which I really enjoy. However, on going onto the website to then get the recipes especially the puddings which I am fanatical about, I find that there are not many recipes listed. I go on each day to check if anymore have been added, but to my dismay there are not.Can you please update this site so that I can try some of these delicious puddings.

I agree totally.  I have been trying to find the recipe, especially the pastry, for the chocolate tart - nowhere to be seen.  Please, please put them all on

as far as i am concerned Aberdeen were robbed in the final.

it all came down to not the food but Scotland v England

noway should northumberland should have won the main coarse.

i am very disappointed that it came down to looking like ,i will give England my vote sort of thing.

I completely agree. How Northumberland won that competition was beyond me. Their main course was missing the sauce because it had been burnt yet it still won! The programme left a sour taste in my mouth!

    Re: Taste the Nation

I agree with you about Northumberland.  I thought that the objective of the programme was to showcase the produce and cooking from a county. Aberdeenshire did this with their Aberdeen Angus Beef, Fishcakes and Marmalade Pudding with Drambuie Custard.  Kent and Cornwall were using local produce and recipes.

Was surprised also to see Warwickshire cooking scallops. They could have teamed Warwickshire with West Midlands and this could have covered the Balti Triangle.

Disappointed that my county did not appear on Taste The Nation (Staffordshire). Should have been called Taste Some Of The Nation.

    Hi Guys,

I am Peter from the Aberdeenshire team.  I must say we were all absolutly gutted to have lost Taste the Nation to Northumberland.  They were a great team but what was the scoring all about....?!

     What do you all think?

    Re: Taste the Nation

Are you the lad that cooked the main steak? I could not believe what I was seeing. My wife was working shifts so she watched it with me the next day. To know who won that particular main course you just had to see the forlorn looks on the Northumberland team and the shock on their faces after the result was read out. And then they compound that error with the burnt sauce by dropping one of their glasses! It was just so wrong. I would be very interested to know what Nick Nairn thought of it all. Cant think he was best pleased! All the best, Peter Howe

    Re: Taste the Nation

    Hello Peter,

Sorry that you lost out to Northumberland. It is quite a bruising experience when you just miss out but your team did do exceptionally well.

I was surprised that Northumberland won and actually I thought that Kent should have beaten them in the semi finals as Kent had great integrity of ingredients as did Aberdeenshire.

In the early heats of the contest I thought that Aberdeenshire came over as a strong team and I thought that the final would be between yourselves and one of the South West teams.

I do think that there should be a chef or chefs on the judging panel and the critics and food writers brought in in for an alternative view as on Britains Best Dish.

As I mentioned in my previous posting my county did not feature and I am hoping that if they repeat the programme I will be able to represent Staffordshire.

I am sure that you gained a great deal from taking part in the competition.

    Best wishes

    Maureen

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comment, No I was doing the starter, but take it from me, Roy was pretty miffed as his steak was cooked to perfection.  We had to present 6 dishes and the best looking one had to go off to get filmed and the others to the judges table.  If the best looking one went to the judges it may or may not of been a different result...!?  Nick was not hugely chuffed as we had all worked so hard to get there and having scored the most points et throughout the show etc...

    It was soooo gutting!!!!

    Hey hoe!!

    Hi Maureen,

Nice to hear from you...  I am sorry you never got to feature in the show.  All I can say is what a fantastic experience it was and how delighted we were to get to the final... Some you win I suppose..!  I must say I am quite surprised about the response of the public after the show we are off to do various cookery demos around Scotland this year which is great!!

Heres hoping they repeat the show and you get your well deserved chance!

    Hi Pete

Loved the show but can't find your recipe for your halibut starter in the Semi-Final. Any ideas where I can get it, it looks great

    Hi,

I have noticed that it is not on the ITV Website.  If you contact the Nick Nairn cook school you should get it from them I would think...

     Bon Apatite!

    Re: Taste the Nation

I am so glad that other people think the same way as me, Roy Duncan is my brother & i was so proud of him, but i thought that the final was fixed, but i thought it was because i was rooting for my brother & Aberdeenshire as they did so well through the whole show. they were robbed, But i think that most people know who the real winners were.

Thank everyone for thinking the same about the final result.

    Iain Duncan
