Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....
justrace:Just funny that some of the posters who ridicule others now for still posting in this thread are the ones who made it such a long and non-sensical thread in the first time. Enough said.
Now who's got a sense of humour failure?!

Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....
taleisin:Anyne who had watch Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy who fully understand the importance of a towel
Blimey you're right, I was forgetting that:
Towel
Just about the most massively useful thing any interstellar Hitchhiker can carry. For one thing it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth on the cold moons of Jaglan Beta, sunbathe on it on the marble beaches of Santraginus Five, huddle beneath it for protection from the Arcturan Megagnats as you sleep beneath the stars of Kakrafoon, use it to sail a miniraft down the slpow heavy river Moth, wet it for use in hand to hand combat, wrap it round your head to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, and even dry yourself off with it if it still seems clean enough.
More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.
Hence a phrase which has passed into hitch hiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.)

Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....
justrace: wallace i: justrace: wallace i:Of course it might have an effect on Hamiltons health if he doesn't have a drink after the race . Sportsmen need to rehydrate after a grueling sporting event . Just look at what happened to Alonso he had no water during the race and as a result he briefly lost consciousness after the race and had to be lifted out of his car.
Are you saying Hamilton only drinks when cameras are pointing at him? Then you would be right indeed. Otherwise it will not have an effect if he does not drink during the few minutes when he makes himself available to the press. And still he could wipe off his sweat and have a drink in between interviews. And no other driver seemed to do it. So just stop with this stupid point about his health. That is certainly not the reason.
So what is the reason then surely your not suggesting that a water bottle and a towel make him look cool yea hight of chic that is . Or like some others are you suggesting that it's a comfort thing because thats just ridiculous . And as for other drivers not doing it I remmember Buttons post race interviews last year he always had a water straw in his mouth and was always walking away from the camers as fast as possible but we never had a 90 post thread about that . I think this is just a case of Hamilton having a drink of water and wiping the sweat of his face before he appears on worldwide TV as for the towel over his shoulder and still having the water bottle during the interview he probably doesn't even realise he is doing it and why should he be bothered about it even if he is aware of it . I never said Hamilton only drinks when cameras are pointed at him like all the other drivers he will be slowly rehydrating his body for at least an hour after the race .
As I have said before, I could not care less that and why he does it - nor if any other driver does it. But I do not accept that some people insist that he does it for health reasons, and that his health is put at risk if he does not do it.
Sorry to but in......I've not seen any post race interviews this season (I'm so p***d off with the moany OTT Legard that I can't wait to get away from the telly) so forgive me if I'm wrong, but do the water bottle and the towel carry sponsors' logoes? 'Cos if they do, perhaps he has them with him for WEALTH reasons.Wouldn't want him damaging his wealth now would we?
Just a thought. Didn't mind me just thinking there, I hope. Y'know, thinking. Gotta go...more Family Guy on the telly!

Aaahhh ................... That brings back memories. Where on earth (or in space) did you get the towel definition, bob?
(Obviously it's from the Hitchhiker's Guide, but where is the Guide to be found?)

Sorry, can't remember but I do recall googling 'arcturan megagnats' and quite a few Hitch Hikers Guide links popped up.
I remember listening to the series when it was originally broadcast on the radio
Perhaps Lewis thought that we'd be as stupid as the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal:
"which is such a mind bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you"

I wanted to add to pointless to this thread (all in the name of fun) but then I realised it would get lost in between all the other pointless posts

Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....
I watched the Jerez MotoGP today and horror of horrors, Rossi, Pedrosa and Stoner were 'posing' with water bottles during interviews following the race!
Is this where the dreaded "Hamilton was drinking water" controvesy comes from - It should be banned in case it offends any delicate F1 'fans'

Re: Lewis Hamilton and the bottle....
jax70: the_hump: jax70: the_hump: jax70: anametoremember: jax70: justrace: r macaw:
I think the point Kevin is missing with his first post is this.
Whilst Lewis was being interviewed and congratulated on the positioning of his designer towel and the creative drape effect and open display of penny earning potential because the drinks bottle is as yet unsponsored, we could clearly hear the podium ceremony taking place somewhere once frequented but now forgotten.
The reason you have not seen Sebastian and Jenson being interviewed in their post race rehydration is that they have been busy receiving trophies this year, and as podium achievers are allowed to rehydrate with champagne.
Whilst I am sure Lewis will be thrilled to bits with the likes of TC and Jax70 swooning over his coolness and such trend setting aesthetic. I am equally sure they both will be happy to see his smiling face being arrogant in defeat being deemed special enough to receive immediate post race interview for even a 6th position than see him standing where he stood for most of the first two years of his career.
At least Lewis is allowed to stand still, last 5 years whenever Jenson was congratulated for yet another fine dismal performance by Louise G, Jenson would insist on walking, oh yes If I remember always with bottle tube feeder in and out of mouth.
Of course if you only ever watch Lewis and everything he does and says, like TC and Jax70, then how clever of you to notice the only real change in his actions this year.
Different to previous years, drivers must now make themselves available after each qualifying and the race. If they want to avoid a penalty the days of sulking in the motorhome or disappearing from the circuit are over.
macaw - how astute you are, I am just confounded as to why the towel needs to be there in the first place. If you read other threads on this site you will how people are commenting on how ham was not even in a sweat on finishing the race, so why the towel ? maybe he needed to keep warm in the 38deg temp. as for the drinks bottle, I have no doubt that he needs to re-hydrate but why not not just put it behind his back whilst being spoken to and replying, basic good manners really...only a small matter that Kev bought to our attention but isn't it getting some air time.....
Hamilton wasnt even sweating after the race LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
You lot are so full of BOGUS DELUDED HATE it is so laughable!
aname, it really is not fair to tarnish everyone with the same brush that you paint me, I am sure they do not deserve it....
As far as ham not sweating after the race, please read the thread 'Alonso the fighter' and posts starting number 831215 you will see many comments on the perspiration (or lack of it) emmitted from several of the drivers, it seems ham was not so hot and bothered as all that....but I guess this conversation has run its course....lets move on.....
How noble of you Jax.
thanks hump, I know I can always rely on you, hows henrietta by the way ?
Henrietta is still sucking like the demon hoover she really is..!
I am so pleased to hear it....
Sadly guys thats not true, Henrietta is in a sorry state, the lack of input from her owner has resulted in her filters blocking and her tube perishing, she needs serious revitalisation, and Henry is ignoring her because he feels she has let herself go.
Only humpy and Jax can remedy this tragic situation

Its a comfort thing, and I suppose it all helps to give the impression that he's "driven his heart out", as he's used to telling us
quite often.

Well I think it's pretty obvious that he did drive his heart out coming fourth in a poor car isn't exactly a bad result by the way did Kovy manage to bring his car home in the points no didn't think so .
