Gosh you lot have been whinging for some dodgy apology for weeks, thinking some people bullying squad will give you power, instead you lot where left with eggs on your faces. Isnt it time to just shut up, understand the media reactions to Hamilton and start enjoying the race.

I am surprised no one complained about the footage Hamilton received from the SPANISH race director, it was a hell of a lot, so if he can do that in Spain of all places understand the support and coverage he gets on his home soil....he is drawing in the crowd!

I bet Alonso gets full coverage in Spain and wasnt it beautiful to see innate NATIONAL crazy mad support for Alonso, and no doubt it is all alonso in the media in Spain...who is complaining?

Indeed we have been whinging and will continue to do so!  Although it doesn't seem to get through to the powers that be, it does you good to get it off your chest!

I think most people accept that LH will get more coverage, although I think they overestimate his popularity compared to the other drivers.  This forum for example has contributions from a wide range of people supporting different drivers/teams  On this occasion it was not LH overhype that was the problem, but the shamelss failure to consider the race winner as the most important achiever of the race.

You see millions have clearly demonstrated they hate Hamilton with a passion BUT they hang on to his every word, move, gesture, look, blink, stance and metablolic system the works...so whether we DONT want to consciously see him (I do) Many subconsciously want to see him...if only to pull the slightest comment to pieces!

You always refuse to read people's whole post!  I'm NOT bashing your hero!  I just think making a bit more fuss of the race winner is important.  If not what's the point of having a race?!  You might as well just have an F1 celebrity parade!

I dont know especially when many came in here after Oz and claimed Hamilton was the worst driver and made the race boring? Kimi done everything special on saturday, Alonso was fantastic yesterday, Hamilton was a pure racer also.

True, although I don't know how they could have claimed he was the worst driver.  The only thing really - not even Lewis' fault - is that it's not so exciting to watch the race leader all the time.  A race win is still an achievement, and wouldn't you have been a tad disappointed if they hadn't bothered to interview him when he won?  Just trying to see things from Kimi fans' point of view.

    Re: ITV!!!!!

I was in Barcelona for the race & thoroughly enjoyed an exciting & eventful GP & an excellent commentary by Bob Constanduros.  We set the video recorder & the race we watched when we got home didn't seem to be the same one!  Commentary, adverts & amputated Post Race Press Conference virtually spoiled it.  Fortunately we saw the whole of the PRPC on the big screen & just wish we'd recorded it.

I think the only way to enjoy F1 while ITV is still host broadcaster is to go to the race in person.  Bit expensive though  Confused

    Re: ITV!!!!!

People say how it's good to see passionate patriotic support, like Spain has for Alonso. However there is one crucial difference between Spain+Alonso and England+Hamilton:

Alonso is the only ever race winner in F1 from Spain, never mind WDC, and indeed the only Spanish thing in F1 along with Pedro (and the Spanish seem to like him lots too, only he doesn't actually race so they can't really cheer him).

The difference we Brits have is Button, Coulthard, Davidson, Mclaren, Williams, even Honda and Renault are based in Sunny England and most of their staff English. Not to mention we've had 8 champions before, it's not like a good Brit in F1 is a sensational new thing that's started British interest in F1.

I personally would say I support Williams and Renault, and I certainly think that makes me more patriotic than some random member of the Hamilton band wagon.

All in all, F1 is a very British Sport at the moment and has been for ages, and supporting the sport in general would be patriotic for a Brit.

The Hamilton love-fest is kind of annoying, I've just gotten used to it because I can't see it stopping any time soon. The one bit that still bugs the **** out of me is Steve "I Love Lewis" Ryder's smug grin when he interviews or even just talks about Lewis.

    Re: ITV!!!!!

I think it's pretty obvious that none of the ITV F1 production team ever visits this forum. If they did they'd have a much better understanding of where the loyalties of the F1 fans are.

When the buildup to the Spanish GP started I had high hopes that ITV had gotten their act together finally and decided to go back to a ballanced view. We had a little bit of Hamilton news, but the rest of it was filled up with Brundle's rather nice feature on past F1 cars and talks with various drivers.

Once the race started it seemed okay too. But once the race had finished and hamilton had come in 3rd you're think he'd won it the way ITV were carrying on. And to miss out the post race interviews with the winner and 2nd place man just so that they could talk about Hamilton was rediculous and insulting to the 2 drivers ahead of him.

Did you write that through you Spanish English translator?

Anyway, its a pile of pile. Put it this way, if Hamilton was in F1 for 7 years, going up and down the grid like groundhog day, fading away and such, Jenson came on the season in 2007 had the same type of background as Hamilton and his confident approach to RD. Then came in F1 set it on fire (should have won the WDC in 1st season) Gave a 2 times WDC mega worries.....I tell you this for absolutely FREE.....the noise, the fans, the media WOULD HAVE BEEN 100 PERCENT WORST!

Yes, we may have other British drivers, and other British winners in the past.....doesnt mean we are not entitled to celebrate one that blazed and rewaken the competition in F1 in his first seaon. Of course we are as a nation, wouldnt care if there were 18 British driver on the grid...we are allowed to go crazy over the one driving the most stick!
