champalonso:Brilliant common sense post, raikkster. Racist or just plain ignorant abusive behaviour is found in humans of all nationalities. I think the reason some people are getting so wound up is because they see Hamilton as a victim. Of course what happened earlier this year was unacceptable, but some Hamilton fans seem to think that any criticism of him is down to racist tendencies. Have they considereed the possibility that he was being booed at the Barcelona race by some fans for other reasons, like perhaps some people simply do not like him, for example because of the perceived animosity between him and Alonso last year, ie nothing to do with his race?
A little analogy. I work in an environment were it is considered polite to hold a door open when somebody else follows you. Recently I was at a customer where I did the same. The woman who followed me then had a go at me and asked whether I opened the door because she was female. I replied, no, I did it because you are a human being. She obviously had a sexist view of my action, while I did not even know before she spoke to me whether the person following me was male or female.

The world's going mad, justrace. I can only assume the lady (she'd probably object to being called that as well!) in question has never heard of manners.

All I did was say what a wonderfull atmostphere there was is Spain and some so called fans on here have turned whole thing into a debate about racism. Why not stick to what thread was about initially or is that too much to ask?

LOL!!! That'll be the day! It wouldn't be the ITV F1 forum if everyone stuck the subject of thread!

Mind you, today it's a lot hotter in London than it is in Istanbul - so miracles CAN happen!

LOL If only, mate! No I wasn't there. it's just so nice to hear someone with something positive to say! And I may be Alonso fan but I'm British.
Racists and other forms of terror hate groups are present in all countries... that's a fact of human nature... I can never be positive about terrorists in all their guises...

....which I'm betting that you have never even visited. You're basing your analysis of a country of forty million people on a very small minority of people on raceday, probably numbering in the dozens, a couple of hundred at the outside. That minority is no more representative of the Spanish population than the English football hooligans whom run amok every world cup are of the English as a people or the NDP in Germany are to the Germans, so why don't you stop spouting this xenophobic crap.
