    HONDA CONSPIRACY

On a serious note, Honda as an organisation should be ashamed of itself. The truth of this whole thing is that they were getting embarrassed by a customer team, who dollar for dollar outperformed the works team. At the first opportunity Honda pulled the plug with regards to their support as well. An organisation the size of Honda should have intervened and helped out until another major investor / sponsor came along. Hats off to Aguri Suzuki for giving us some spectacularly competitive racing from his little Samurai like team. You will be missed. When the time comes to replace my Honda, I will definitely be looking hard at other brands

As for the sport as a whole, F1 is left with 10 teams, how sad, almost no one to compete against anymore

    Re: HONDA CONSPIRACY

They owed $50,000,000 already and most of that to Honda who have in all fairness been bank rolling that team from the start and very heavily since the major sponsor last year failed to cough up, I don't really see how Honda could have done that much more.

If there is anyone to blame or who deserves the anger of the fans it has to be last years sponsor who put SA in this position in the first place!

    Re: HONDA CONSPIRACY

I also think Honda could not afford to bankrole 2 teams.  Don't forget that Honda is not the biggest car manufacturer in Japan (I think they are third)

This could also be harming their factory team by taking funds away from R&D.

Eventually the amount of spending Super Aguri would have to increase sustancially for them to become a manufacturer.  If Honda keeps bailing them out, then would Honda have ot pay for a new windtunnel, chassis manufacturing facility etc.

If they can not survive now with a customer car then better to shut down now then later

Boo to the sponsor who bailed out and to the Japanese companies that would not sponsor a team and driver from their country.

I agree, leave Honda alone. They need to concentrate on getting their works car back to the front!

    Re: HONDA CONSPIRACY

I think you should be thanking Honda not bashing them. Honda have supporting Super Aguri since the start. They only started Super Aguri because they dropped Sato which probably didnt go down well in Japan.

Honda cant support Super Aguri for ever as they need to concentrate everything to get their car back to where it was in 2006, which would be just behind BMW.

It costs alot more than pocket change to keep one team afloat let alone two. I doubt it was because they were being beaten by SA. If that was the case they would of pulled the plug last season when Honda were racing SA.

    Re: HONDA CONSPIRACY

you may be in need of a reality check - Honda spent so much money on SA on the agreement that SA would become self-sustaining after a couple of seasons.  That has not happened and when Magma pulled out of their deal with Aguri, the little teams fate was sealed

Sad, but true - your beef should not be with Honda

Bit unprofessional to do it now, four races in! This should have been done at the end of last season, savd money or given them better time to find other sponsors!

i must disagree - i got the impression that Honda wanted Magma to take SA out their hands, but when that fell through it left SA needing more money just to race in Spain with the possibility of having to do it again at a later stage

Honda simply could not justify propping them up any further

What I dont get is, its alright for a team to give thems millions, but it was wrong for them to get McLarens old MP4-22 chasis, this alone would have cut back on millions, and kept them on the grid? The talk on BBC radio on the commentary when the second practise was going on was very interesting!

Not only would this have kept a private investor in F1, it would have kept many jobs, developed many skills, kept F1 interesting..and allowed deals with teams in GP2 to come in and use an old chasis for their season in F1. The FIA talk about saving money, but I am yet to see what they have done with McLarens fine money, denied McLaren from helping other teams with prodrive and old chasis..now SA have gone after wasting how many millions this season?
