New-look F1 website - What do you think?
Hi, As you may have seen, we’ve given the ITV F1 website a facelift ahead of the new
season. Now we’d like your feedback on the new design.
We want to hear what
you like about the new design and, more importantly, what you don’t. We promise
to read every suggestion, and we will do our best to act upon as many of them as
possible. Please post your thoughts here. Thanks

It looks good, plenty of info, and it's diverse. Nice improvements, like the Logo too.

Looks very good. Well done! Even appears that some of the things I did not particularly like are gone (e.g. pressing the feature menu item and then needing to select feature home in the sub-menu). Just one thing, I really like the poll, but now it's at the bottom. Could you move it back up again (below the countdown)?

I like it. It looks good.
I agree that the poll feature, which i like too should be closer to the top.
Look similar to another F1 website that i might occasionaly visit
Just one thing. it might just be my computer, maybe other users could comment on this, On the Fantasy F1 page i only seem to get half the page and cant navigate the page properly.

I like it. It's far more modern.
Good job.

I disagree, its too cluttered and hard to distinguish each section. Its affectively honda's last car, a big step backwards. Sorry to be so negative but the black background also makes it really hard to read the red text and removes the old divides between each panel. I like the old design much more Pete

Keep the distracting graphics to a bare minimum, focus heavily on easily readable content, and keep all unneccessary clutter to a bare minimum...

I think it looks pretty cool abit nicer than the old style, how many years have they had that old layout seems donkeys. Bring it on. Lets hope Formula One is gonna be exciting as ever and Ferrari dont throw there toys out the pram.

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?
nice layout. Just to echo the poll point from above... it would be better towards the top. Also, the red text needs toning down slightly, it hurts my eyes!

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?
Hello,
I preferred the simpler look of the older site. I'm not opposed to change but change for change sake is frustrating. I love ITV-F1 so please accept my criticisms below as constructive and nothing more :) Is it modern? Not so sure.. It’s crisper, but far too much information to digest on any one page.
I find the contrast to be a bit too high between the black background and the red. The red links seem to shout too much at me, and as there are at least 26 links in red on the home page, I feel as though it's too loud and everyone is shouting for attention for me to click them. Also the inconsistency of using Red text for links and unlinked headers is confusing especially when you then see ununderlined white links.
I find 5 columns (including the ad bar on the right) far to dizzying to follow and not very natural. To view the site I need to ignore the two right hand columns (possibly not great for your sponsors).
The main navigation is intuitive, but it would be nice if the sub sections would expand dynamically without loading a new page. It would make navigation much more pleasing (and as it stands, that extra page view is unlikely to lead to any more ad clicks so I doubt you'd lose any revenue).
The header story headlines are a little puzzling. I find it difficult to naturally read the 5 headlines and when a specific headline gets my attention, I can't click on the entire button area (div) I have to click on the white text (I thought red was the link colour like the rest of the page). It took me a moment to realise I couldn't click on the red title but the white nonunderlines text? When I do click on the white link, it scrolls the page to the top of the page which isn't very graceful. In all I find the story area could work harder to be effective.
Reading a news item/story, I find the white background to the copy to be a big relief. Unfortunately the Latest News box seems to be taking visual preference over the article (dark grey box sitting on white background syndrome). This draws my attention even further away from the skyscraper banner so you're less likely to get higher click through rate on what should be a high click through page.
These are my bigger gripes :) I hope the designer(s) don't mind my criticisms. They are obviously talented, but need a little objective usability advice to bounce off. HTML seems tidy so page loads cleanly. Content is always a great read :)

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?
I have to say to me it just looks like the old site with a dark background. Although some people might say it looks more modern I do think there's a lot to be said for keeping it simple. BBC Sport is a good example. Totally agree with the points on the placement of the poll as well, I didn't even spot it the first time I visited. Again, partly due to the darker colour scheme I think. Thanks

way too much red for an F1 site... needs more silver, much more silver
and maybe a little blue for good measure

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?
Generally I like the new look. First time I opened the page my heart sank, most times a site is given a new look it is a backward step but having used it I think it is an improvement. One thing I don't like is the red on dark grey text. I find this very hard to read, the other colour combinations are ok in fact the smaller white text under the red headlines is easier to read than the headline itself. No problem with the design but please look again at the colours, I know people vary in the colours that work for them but I can't be the only one who is struggling to read the red on grey..

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?
The colours are nice - BUT they're pretty harshly contrasted,... maybe reduce the contrast between colours of text and the background a smidge? Also,. I have a resolution on 1280x1024,.. is it at all feasible to have it so the layout could expand to fit my resolution, and of course any other regularly used resolution? Like,. 'wrapping' the site to fit...... I think also, more carbon grey would look fabulous too.... not tooo much, but enough to help define areas of the page / site better; is perhaps a little too, 'blended', at the moment. Lastly, how about having clearly defined, 'panels', for each story listed on the right half, (Latest Features), apart from those small things, it looks and performs well.
