Red text on a black background requires a bit of eye straining but I only visit the site to check the TV schedule so I'm not that bothered.

It's very exciting, the colors really make it pop. Nice work. I especially like the fact the Sutton has taken his name off of the pictures.I love having the shots as a backround on my Computer. Thank you for that. It is one of the areas I look foward to when visiting the Site. I have not found another site that gives me what I need to stay abreast with Formula 1. Thank you Folks. Welcome to 2008. Keep up the great work that you provide us with every year.Cool

harsh - has this been user tested? Accessibility tested? It hurts my eyes and is overly cluttered. I think I would visit this site less in its current design, as it's actually painful to read.

harsh - has this been user tested? Accessibility tested? The red on black hurts my eyes - I would actually cisit this site less with this design asit's painful. far too cluttered too - everything's shouting too loudly for attention. Please go back and think about good web. And check with RNIB etc what they think (they have a web testing dept). The site may work with screenreaders but that doesn't help the many thousands of partially sighted people out there who would strugle with this. Also the site isn't inviting to new users (too busy, where would they start?), so could affect website traffic.

Feels like it's been designed to suit the sponsor rather than the user...

I don't know why you bothered changing the colour scheme.  I can only assume that you have some kind of sponsorship deal with specsavers.

Get rid of the red on black and sort out the links then it might be okay or you could switch back to the old website, there was nothing wrong with that!!!.Smile

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

What are you guys thinking about~???? Light coloured text on a dark background???? Its tiresome to read and visually overbearing.

Wonder what the visually impared charities would say about this let alone the sponsors and advertisers. I will spend less time browsing because it is just too tiring.

Grow up guys, this style went out in y2k. Want people to read what you write then keep it easy to read.

Great design but the red text is a bit difficult to read.

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

I thought I was at the wrong site when I first the new look! LOL

    Pro's:

    • Easy to navigate
    • A refresh (in look) is nice every now and then!

    Con's:

    • Red on black not so easy to read for me personally, and so not such a nice experience over 5 minutes or so surfing the site
    • I miss not being able to open the pics from within the News articles (with my screen resolution being so high, these pics in the articles are just too small to get the desired impacts, hence opening them to a larger size was very good)
    • Prefer the Poll further up the screen

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

Like the dark colors, cool as, thats what F1 should be. Rotating headlines don`t like em. On your old design when you clicked on a headline the color change from red to black to identify you`ve read it. Your new design does not, this is where you`ve failed.

Hope you like the input      Scozzie

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

Generally, I quite like the new look, but the red-on-black headings are very difficult to read in daytime, particularly if the sun is shining (and then it's impossible). I had a second look last night after it got dark and it was easier, but this morning, again, I feel like I'm going blind.

We don't get all that much sunshine as it is, and I'm blowed if I'm going to draw the curtains just to read a webpage.

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

Not bad, sometimes you have to move to stay still but simplicity makes a good website.

The links from the sophisticated/flashy/tacky rolling block at the top are next to useless. They'd be much better if they actually took the browser to the story BEHIND the headline.

The poll would be better back at the top.

Overall, not an improvement, but not much worse.

Drawing the curtains to read a webpage? 90% of the male population do that all the time!

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

For those of us in the world without high speed internet access your website has always been slow to load.  With your new format, however, it now takes three times longer to load.  Additionally I could not get into any of the featured articles at the top of the page.

I have relied on your website for my F1 news for years, but unless you revert to your old format I will have to go elsewhere as the new layout is unworkable for those of us without high speed access.

It seems that all you have done is make the site "prettier", without any improvement in content, at the expense of usability.

PLEASE revert to your old format, or I will have to reluctantly abandon your website.

Re: New-look F1 website - What do you think?

why does it keep crashing my safari application? NEVER happened before or with anything else.

I am not keen on the dark background and legibility compromises this creates, it should be legible  as a priority, simple + fast, stable and flash if you must. An old saying - if it works don't fix it
