    Kimi's lackluster performance...what happened?

Any explanation why Kimi was limp today? He had no issues bar a few mistakes in qualifying, what happened there then?

Before the first pits, his car seemed fine and made up ground on Kubica, after that he kind of fell away. Did he have one of his famous " I dont care" moments?

Looking at Massa's car and drive, Kimi's time he made up on Kubica, and the superior car of Ferrari on the whole, how can Kimi explain such an unnescessary drive? I dont think Schumacher would have performed like that if he was in Kimi's seat today. I acknowledge 3rd place is still a good position, but he was in a postion to hussle Hamilton a little more and try and stop Massa's dominance in Istanbul....that is his job!

Lets hope he comes back at Monaco!

Damaged front wing (start incident) + being stuck behind Kubica. Could be that second set of soft tyres were even worse because Kimi had the pace in that third stint with hard tyres

Oh he had a damaged front wing? Well then scrap my post, a mature drive for Kimi then!

    Re: Kimi's lackluster performance...what happened?

Well he lost a bunch of time behind Kubica for the entire first stint of the race. Its very hard to claw back that kind of deficit especially against Hamilton who was on an aggressive strategy. Kimi did actually have the pace as proved by his fastest lap, but the problem was his bad start cost him vital track position in the first stint.

I think its as simple as that.

Well it was Kimi's front wing that damaged Kovalainen's tyre.

I was getting worried, I thought he was having a bit of an off day but it turns out it was a broken wing. I might have known that if the coverage bothered to show Kimi at the press conference and since I have not yet been to psychic school it was a mystery to me until I came on and looked at the news on the site.  Well done ITV........another informative and "sennaesque" coverage.  Super Angry  (I'm not bitter.....honest!!)

Aye it was kimi's wing that damaged kova's tyre, which was a shame, kova would have done well.

Didnt know that but the Ferrari car is a power house anyway, and he overtook Alonso like a breath of fresh air and he made up ground with kubica with some fast laps...plus was catching hamilton, so it could not of been that bad. I just thought Kimi had I dont care and i will take whatever i am given days!

    Re: Kimi's lackluster performance...what happened?

I personaly think his drive today cements his standard as a world champion!  Fair play I was a little worried too, but I did put his inability to pass Hamilton in the last stint down to the fact that F1 is so aero reliant, but I'm actually in high spirits after hearing about the damaged wing.

I'm not bias, and we really don't know how damaged his wing really was (it could have just been a tiny amount of damage that made negligible difference to the downforce), but if it really was significant enough to compromise his drive, well...  What an outstanding drive it was!

Great job by Lewis too, gotta hand it to him for pulling off that 3 stopper; outstanding drive.

it wasn`t a case of mclaren avin a good day, more like ferrari having a not so good day (except massa of course). ferrari win 4 straight races, 2 back to back 1-2s,hamilton comes second in istanbul and mclaren declare there back in the huntEmbarrassed what a load of crapp. yeah mclarens soooo great that they were forced into the 3 stopper because bridgestone advised them their great car would not handle the tyres on a normal 2 stopper, i`d still put money on mclaren not winning another race this year unless it`s another of tho`s wacky races like australia.well done kimi for adapting his driving style in responce to the damaged wing, unlike lewis 3rd race in, TRYING to drive with damaged aero parts..... think the mighty reds are gonna wrap up the constructors half way through the season the rate their going!!!! hail ferrari. cant wait for monaco

    Re: Kimi's lackluster performance...what happened?

Not forgetin mclaren are better on the next 2 circuits than ferrari. Lewis was not forced into doin a 3 stopper, where the hell do u ppl get these ideas from Hmm lol. It p's me off that people turn the tables like u with ya "it wasn't a case of mclaren avin a good day, more like ferrari having a not so good day".. and that duzent work out really coz massa won, and kova had to pit early. PLUS.. the wing damage mite not have had much affect on kimis driving lol which if it didnt, he didnt do so well did he? Lewis did a fantastic job 2day in turkey, considerin kimi was rite next to im an massa infront.

    Re: Kimi's lackluster performance...what happened?

I seem to be missing some logic here. I am positive Kimi stopped twice in the Pits, If there had been any hint of a problem with his front wing they would have changed it so no blame what so ever can be placed there. He may just have had a hangover....only kiddingBig Smile
