Complaint about the Commentators
I have been a fan for F1 for quite a while now, but these idiots are really ruining the experience for me and loads of other fans. Every single race is extremely biased towards Lewis Hamilton. This is not the first time they back only one driver; before 2007, they would only ever talk about Michael Schumacher. It makes me wonder if they realise that there are, in fact, 10 teams in the race.
Also the smaller teams, like Toro Rosso and Force India hardly ever get mentioned. These teams also have fans, and I am sure they would like to see their cars instead of just watching Lewis Hamilton and the Ferrari's. More race coverage on these teams is long overdue, I would have thought this are would have been addressed by now, as it very unprofessional to stick with just a select few teams.
I for one am sick of all the commentators, especially James Allen and Martin Brundle for their race commentary and constant Lewis love. It is obvious that none of the drivers wish to speak to Martin Brundle during his grid walk as he shows them no respect.
If someone could please do something about this we would all be very grateful. Thanks.

Re: Complaint about the Commentators
well you can always mute if you dont like it
and another thing your all quick to complain about the commentators but yet no one seems to complain about FOM only showing, as you put it, "a select few" teams.

Re: Complaint about the Commentators
Well I suggest it's about time we had a poll to get a true impression of what F1 fans want from the coverage. I will post one shortly.

What for? For a whole load of foreigners to overrun this board and add their two pence worth?

They are not going to talk about Sutil, Bourdais and Webber all race long are they? It is obvious who is going to get mentioned more than any other. If you want to hear more about Massa then watch the race in Brazil, if you want to hear more about Alonso then go to Spain, simple really. What else do you expect? The reason Schumacher got so much of a mention was obvious, a consistant race winner, multiple world champion and a legend. I don't see things changing much in this respect even with BBC coverage.

No, enough with this silly xenophobia! F1 is an international sport. Even though you may support the British drivers, you'll find that they drive for teams comprising manufacturers and engineers etc, from all over the world so I think that nationaliaty is not a key factor in support for F1 drivers.

I agree that the drivers that are at the front are always going to be spoken of more and I have no problem with them following a charging Lewis during the race when applicable, but the over the top nature of anything involved with Hamilton is nauseating at times. Take the pass on Massa today for example. Granted it was a decent move, but the way James carried on you would have thought that it was on par with the Mika/Schumacher pass at Spa. A few fast laps become "Sennaesque" when performed by Lewis. Can you honestly say that had Kimi, Massa or anyone else for that matter done exactly the same that such florid prose would be applied? It's always the same. Remember Allen screaming "Ooohh, that's unheard of!" last year as Lewis passed Rubens' heavier, massively struggling Honda at Interlagos? Sure, ITV should cover the action at the front but they should also do so in a professional, unbiased manner. James has been this way forever but even Martin sounds like a damn cheerleader on occasion these days and it's ******* annoying. I'm English but don't support Hamilton one bit and don't believe that 'watching the race in Finland' should be necessary in order to get some balanced coverage. It's cold there.

I know what you are saying (the Sennaesque thing made me cringe a little) ok I think James goes over the top with Hamilton, but what I am saying is that in their respective countries the coverage is going to focus on their driver quite a bit regardless of where they are on the track. I think balanced coverage would be hard to come by, someone may be able to prove different, though i'd be surprised. Don't go to Finland to watch the next race though, lol.

Aye, I realise that a national bias is always likely to be present but therein lies the crux of the problem, which I realise is unlikely to be exclusive to ITV amongst the worlds broadcasters (James going overboard aside). What the ITV commentary team seem unaware of is that their audience, although primarily English, do not overwhelmingly support the English drivers. So, although the commentators may be nationalistic in their support and consider that the English drivers are "their drivers" the reality amongst the viewing public appears to be quite different and a large percentage of the viewing audience do not want to hear endlessly about Hamilton, whose own hero ironically was not Englishman Nigel Mansell, but the Brazilian with the yellow helmet. I really feel that they need to start taking that onboard because it appears that they are alienating a large number of viewers.

As far as i'm concerned it's not about the English drivers at all, I care about all drivers British. I hope you are not going on about the English/Scottish thing here.
Now you've mentioned Senna and Mansell. Senna as we all know was a racing genius (say no more) Mansell was a driver who deserves a place in the top six or seven in my opinion, you don't see commitment and balls like that everyday, if ever someone deserved the tag of "race driver" this is it. Mansell was a much better driver than the stats show.

If anyone thinks it will get better on the BBC think think think again, it will get worst, the took back F1 for british interest for Hamilton!
What was the line repeated over and over again on the BBC radio after qualifying....Hamilton in 3rd place, Massa ahead of Hamilton in 1st place, and Hamiltons team mate Heikki in 2nd.....seriously it was hamilton hamilton hamilton, they changed it up sometimes..but they couldnt say hamiltons name enough trust me!

I'd wager you'd have a damn sight better chance of seeing the full Press conference in spain or italy (i know for a fact as I'm always over there) france or anywhere else you'd care to mention. Not cut it off the way ITV like to do. GeDDit????
