    stigga:
Hamilton has been given a 25 second penalty for cutting the chicane.

    What are your thoughts Stigga?

I know you are a Kimi fan, but I was just wondering.

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

Lewis cut the chicane, gained sporting advantage, passed Raikkonen almost by default into La Source as he was carrying so much more speed up the pit straight

I don't understand how you can believe that. If Lewis lifted off to let Raikkonen through then, as Raikkonen passed Lewis, he would have been going faster than Lewis and still accelerating. I'd say Lewis did everything to put his car back in the position it would have been if he hadn't had to cut the chicane. Then took him at the first turn as he no doubt would have anyway.

I'm so angry about this. At first I thought I was biased because I'm British and I love to see a British driver win, but if this had been the other way round then I think I'd still be just as angry. The rules state that the driver must gain an advantage from cutting a chicane. Well, I could see no advantage gained as the advantage that was gained was given back by McClaren.

Couldn't agree more i love F1 but i am well an truly sick of this Mclaren persecution, if you are in a silver car you can grantee that you will be penalised weather you have done somthing wrong or not. This has got to stop this is pure result/championship fixing. The stuards and the officials should the ashamed of themselves

    astms:

    OMG.....I can't believe they've done that!!!Surprise

    Can Mclaren appeal?

I'm sure they can appeal...but it'll have to go to the FIA court of appeal and will probably not be cleared up for several weeks....

I think this penalty is disgraceful and totally unfair. Yes I'm a big fan of Lewis but if I thought he'd been in the wrong I'd have no qualms with him being penalised but, as it stands, I feel this punishment is uncalled for as he yeilded the position to Kimi and they crossed the start finish line, a reasonable distance from the chicane, with Kimi in front so how they can argue for an unfair aquisition of the lead on the track by Lewis is beyond me.

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

    What rubbish.

If you let someone overtake you (as Hamilton CLEARLY did) then you're not going faster than them - you are going SLOWER than them. So how was he able to "pass by default" because he was carrying more speed? Laws of physics folks.

And Raikkonen crashing into Hamiltons gear box is not an advert for good driving technique. That was a mistake by Raikkonen. As Raikkonen's subsequent unforced off clearly showed - his Ferrari package is not good in the wet (just look at Massa's pace). He was beaten fair and square and then the stewards  - well words fail me..

What a moronic attempt to justify the unjustifiable. For once an F1 race acctually looked like one and then the stewards come up this this cr*p??

You have to feel sorry for the fans when this kind of utter rubbish is thust on them. Still there's always MOTO GP. There they let them RACE each other (a la Stoner and Rossi). F1 is on it's way out....

Oh my peasantburner, could you make it more obvious that you support the red cars????? hamilton was already up raikkonens backside before they came to the chicane or did you shut your eyes so as not to see ferrari come second again??????

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

I cannot believe this - it's beyond comprehension. What a totally and completely utterly ridiculous decision.

    I'm staggered! Dumbfounded - Numb!!!

How on earth do they think they're going to justify this decision against others they've doled out recently. I'm sorry but even as a mature and even handed individual I have to say that I'm coming to the conclusion that the only consistancy is that of total bias.

And you know the worst of it?................. I feel completely helpless! I feel so unimportant to the powers that be, and that my opinion is of such inconsequence that can do as they please whilst I look on - and they know damn well I've got to just suck it up!!

I really want to swear I'll never have a thing to do with F1 again - but then they've won haven't they! And just so we know who they are? How about you post their pic's on the front page - and their home phone numbers and e-mail addresses while you're at it. I would certainly like to fully express my feelings to them right about now.

This blatent manipulation of outcome via the rulebook has been going on for several years now and has just reached it's lowest ebb - it even feels like they felt it wasn't even necessary for them to be particularly covert of subtle about it........even the sheer arrogance offends me!

    peasantburner:

harsh but fair in my book.

Lewis cut the chicane, gained sporting advantage, passed Raikkonen almost by default into La Source as he was carrying so much more speed up the pit straight, Raikkonen attempting to retake the lead after losing it to the dubious move damaged his front wing, then spun off the road whilst travelling in a straight line after Blanchimont, almost certainly helped along by an aero imbalance the collision with Lewis (who had passed unfairly, in my opinion at least) caused.

Put simply, if Lewis hadn't cut the chicane, Raikkonen would much less likely have spun off.

    Total fantasy!

F1 needs to drop the FIA and try to bring some credibility back to this very bias sport!

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

The answer is he drove the wrong coloured car!.

Having been pushed off the track by Kimi, Hamilton did exactly what he should have, let him past at the first oppertunity.Lewis then clearly let him get in front before passing him again.

To claim he got an advantage is unbelieveable and after the farce decisions this year where Hamilton gets a 10 place deduction for an error in the pits and Massa just gets a fine for the same crime this just proves it's clearly biased.

And next week it's in Italy. What chance will Lewis stand there?

What a suprise, the FIA helping Ferrari to win yet again. It'll just make it all the sweeter when he wins the Championship!

something is wrong with this sport. why has lewis got to be punished for being so good ? perhaps this means the end for Mr. Denis it is clear that greater forces are working against not just lewis but the whole team.

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

Years ago, I wouldn't have believed it either!  Back then it was called "racing" and "competition".  But we've just got to accept that F1 actually means Ferrari 1 and FIA  stands for .....  well you work it out!  To paraphrase what people here have said "if it ain't all RED - it couldn't have led!".  So we were just dreaming - until those good ole boys (the Stewards) remembered which side their toast was buttered.

Just speculate on the outcome if Schumacher in  a Fiat  sorry Ferrari had been driving Lewis' car.  You got it!  Numero uno.

Yup! - one rule for you-know-who and thousands of painful, expensive, nit-picking punishments for everyone else.  This ridiculous spectacle isn't worth watching anymore.  I can think of lots of words beginning with F to describe all this - and FAIR isn't one of 'em!

p.s. yes - there is an appeal mechanism ....  I think it's direct to the Board of Ferrari.  Oh what's the point?!
